We had the good fortune of connecting with Damian Hurtado and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damian, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Before starting Deathstalker I’ve been running a hand sprayed grip tape company since 2012 called Getta Grip, all spray can work. It started as a hobby and eventually worked my way up selling to skate shops and having online orders nationwide. I currently paint Gulfstream planes & jets during the day full time, after years of automotive painting. Putting the two together came so naturally and knew this is what I want to do.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Being where I am today with both of my businesses didn’t come easy and continuously going through challenges. I’ve painted 500 sheets of grip tape left handed because of an injury, been broke as hell before using my last few bucks to invest in supplies, and so much more. That’s how passionate I am when it comes down to painting and staying creative. Its what helps me function living day to day and overall doing what I want and what I was meant to do. I want people to get hyped on the work I put out spending hours for that prime quality work for the best results. I’m starting to bring my stencil art experience to the chopper world and ready to get some more custom work lined up.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’m really into finding new random spots, wether if it’s a hill top in Palos Verdes or a hidden delicious restaurant. I know so much we can do and badass spots to hit, but something about a new experience has always been intriguing to me. Gotta be up for the adventure. Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d like to thank my supportive family, homies, skate shops, Long Beach, my dog, and brands that I’ve collaborated with over the years. Y’all keep me going.
