We had the good fortune of connecting with Bel Kertesz and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Bel, is there something you believe many others might not?
One piece of Conventional advice that I disagree with, is that there is a clear cut road to achieving your dreams. There is No such thing. For example, It’s great if you go to school, it’s an amazing tool and facet but it’s not for everybody and it doesn’t equal success. You don’t have to do what everyone else is doing to achieve that “thing”. Rather than knocking on a closed door, we now have the capabilities to create our own lane, and create a way to get there that hasn’t been done before.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I”ve been working as a professional singer since I was 9 years old. I have also been involved in other entertainment fields that I love as well and naturally gravitated to such as acting, producing, modeling, and now entrepreneurship. I have been really focused on pursuing songwriting for the past year and a half. I feel that what sets me apart the most is my Mindset, I’ve always felt as though there is nothing I can’t achieve if I work hard and remain resilient, I feel as though everyday has been a step toward the best version of me. I really have to thank my mom for helping me get where I am today. She especially sacrificed a lot for the ten plus years i was pursuing music as a kid, with her constantly driving me and taking me around everywhere. She came to every audition, writing class, dance class. performance, studio session and more. Both my parents sacrificed immensely for me to be able to pursue music full force the past 15 years. My dreams are BIG. I have been through a lot in this industry especially enduring a lot of obstacles when I was old enough to go to events and meetings on my own. With no manager, no label, and no budget its been extremely hard to acquire a position but I’m getting there and I remain focused. My goals are much bigger than me, and my intentions to make a mark on this industry becoming very real. I have a clear vision and I’m willing to create ways to see those visions come to life. I’ve been on a heavy spiritual journey for the past two years and I feel as though it has helped me be more confident in my creativity, my message, and who I am as an artist. I feel like It’s all intertwined and connected to each other.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Oh man, well all my friends know I’m a busy body and I love doing, I love adventure. We would definitely have to go to the beach. Thats a no brainer. If they were open to it I would take them Horsebackriding, and to a cool virtual reality experience. The one at Century city is incredible. Restaurant wise definitely a hole in the wall cool Italian spot and if they are like me and love sushi. I love this small spot in Westwood. I would take them to Rocksuger cause I love the atmosphere there. And maybe we would do a sound bath if they were open to that as well:) They could even come with me to the studio for a day and seed what I do!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Wow there are so many aspects of support and mentorship that keep me moving and keep me lifted. I have really amazing people around me who constantly inspire me and keep me in a learning frame of mind. I was lucky enough to have amazing mentors guiding me at a young age. Those seeds that they helped me plant years and years ago are just now starting to grow and I’m forever grateful and thankful for them. I really am like a sponge so its extremely detrimental for me to have the right people in my circle. As far as books go, I’m a BIG reader. Some of my favorites are, The Four Agreements, Becoming Supernatural, The Power of Now, and a New Earth. I read both Spirtual and financial books. I think balance and keeping an open mind are key in anything you do, including what you read.
