We had the good fortune of connecting with Brian Jensen and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Brian, what are you most proud of in terms of your business?
I’d say it’s the feedback we receive from clients. My mindset with Congruent Digital has always been to be the best, not the biggest, and our client retention rate and positive feedback we consistently receive from our clients attest to that.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Congruent Digital is a full-service, boutique digital marketing agency. My background is in SEO working at agencies where most departments were siloed. I knew there was a real opportunity to build a business focused on making online marketing channels work together, as for most industries we work with, the customer path-to-purchase spans mutiple touch-points and experiences. Having a firm understanding of our client’s customers and how they search for a product or service is our foundation for creating successful campaigns. Running a business hasn’t always been easy – as a business owner, I wear multiple hats (some of which I don’t want to wear). Burnout happens, mistakes are made, but you also see victories and growth – both for the business and personally. Over the years, I’ve gotten much better at bringing on clients that share our vision for success and being able to say no to those that don’t.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We recently moved from Huntington Beach to Temecula, CA. While we miss the ocean and the views from PCH, we really love Temecula. Wine country is beautiful and there are plenty of great options for food and drink including Wilson Creek Winery, Leoness Cellars, and Longshadow Ranch Winery to name a few. Old Town Temecula also has many exceptional dining options including The Goat and Vine, 1909, ESPADÍN and many more. We enjoy dining in Old Town as it has a charm that’s reminiscent of Main St. in Seal Beach.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I never really had a mentor per say, i.e. anyone to show me how to start and run a business – I just took the plunge and learned as I went. With that being said, I would suggest finding a mentor as I’m a firm believer in learning from other people’s mistakes. My wife deserves a BIG shout out for her continued patience and support. There were lean months, and she never wavered in her belief that I could make this business work. The digital marketing community also deserves kudos. So much of what I’ve learned over the years has been given away freely in the form of blogs posts, videos, webinars, etc. My industry has an amazing, supportive community.
