We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Lee and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, is there something you believe many others might not?
One advice that no one should ever take into consideration is the word “amateur” because even Bill Gates started as an amateur before learning the steps into becoming a billionaire. You can do anything if you just START and be persistent with your goal. No one is born with a Ph.d attached to their name.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I’m still working on pursuing my dream of turning over this passion into something greater and learning through each step. It’s time consuming and sometimes feel very tiring but I don’t want to give it up. My plan is to finish strong within my ability so that I don’t ever look back and regret giving up so easily. Starting my YouTube channel with no knowledge on how to film or edit was very challenging but over time I’ve taught myself to become better. This practice led me to feel confident enough to start doing promotional videos for restaurants. It took years of self learning and creating videos all on my own but that forced me to become knowledgeable. My video contents have become a huge part of my social media portfolio that I can show to potential clients. I believe that it’s important to just start and go along with the ride and see where that takes you. It’ll be one bumpy ride but eventually the road will become smoother and wider.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Depending on who the friend is, I would either take them to Vegas, fly to San Francisco or stay at a nice Mid Century style Airbnb in Palm Springs. As a big time foodie, I’d do all the research on where to eat and drink. If we are staying at an Airbnb, I’d plan out on what to cook at least one meal a day. We’d be experimenting on making lots of cocktails to drink by the pool and just relax/talk/play games…etc. There’s couple good spots in Palm Springs worth dining and some great spa’s to get pampered. Las Vegas is a city that’s perfect for any foodie to explore and I’ve got couple dozen restaurants bookmarked on Yelp. This is a city that pretty much has everything from shopping, food and entertainment so it’d be easy to plan out the week. I would most likely take my friend to all the hidden bars and hit up all the cute dessert cafes and brunch spots too! Sleeping would be considered overrated if we end up in this city! Spending a week up North would be something that I’d enjoy the most. This type of friend would have to be adventurous and loves to sightsee. We’d stop by Carmel by the Sea and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Then head to San Francisco to spend days sightseeing and visit the most popular eateries. If there’s time, also spend the day at Napa Valley!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
The most valuable lessons I’ve learned in the kitchen is taught by my mom. Growing up, she would always cook breakfast every weekend and that smell would linger into my room. I loved it even more because she worked on the weekdays and having her cook breakfast on Saturday morning was comforting and very exciting for me. I would just stand there and watch her peel veggies. It was therapeutic just to hear that knife tapping away on the wooden board as she chopped all the ingredients. This was the beginning of learning to cook like her without realizing how far it’d be me as an adult. Cooking is all about putting in extra flavors of love. This part of the lesson can only be taught by love.
