“Communication leads to community, that is, to understanding, intimacy, and mutual valuing.” – Rollo May I love this quote because it’s the first time I’ve made the connection between all the things that I value about the power of communication to facilitate something abstract. There’s so much research and programming around community building strategies and communication as a tool. Knowing what you’re using the tool to build is important to me. It’s the part that keeps me grounded and motivated to keep talking, listening, and learning from people — for the goal of feeling more connected and accountable to each other. Read more>>

My favorite quote is, “An army of sheep led by a lion is better than an army of lions led by a sheep.” This Alexander the Great quote resonates with me because it’s all about leadership. Leadership is the single most important skill that an entrepreneur must have. Leadership is less about a title, and more about a person’s character. Entrepreneurship becomes exponentially easier once you develop your leadership character and skills. Read more>>

“One who doesn’t Risk, doesn’t drink Champagne” . An old Russian saying that any post-soviet child has heard at least a thousand times growing up. To me it became almost a life motto and very much explains the things I do, and how I do them. It refers to the fact that to achieve something great, you will have to take a risk at some point while the Champagne drinking refers to celebrating that great success. Read more>>

For me, one quote that I found has stuck with me as my favorite is one by psychologist Jordan Peterson in his book Beyond Order, “Work as hard as you possibly can on at least one thing and see what happens.” This quote resonates with me a lot because over the course of my time as being a filmmaker, photographer, and sometimes actor, I found that working really hard at it and seeing your successes and where you are in this moment versus where you started from is extremely satisfying for me. Not only for that medium as I am in college as well working towards a double major in Film and Developmental Psychology. Read more>>

“Life doesn’t happen to you. It moves through you.” I don’t know who came up with this quote but I love it because I think it gets to the heart of the struggle so many people feel on a day to day basis. As a someone who works deeply with people, a theme I see over and over is that people feel like they are to a certain extent controlled by external circumstances in their life. Often that feeling goes even deeper to the point that people feel like victims. This creates feelings of uncertainty, anxiety and confusion. Read more>>

“I want to make people cry even when they don’t understand my words” – Edith Piaf Edith Piaf was the first character I worked on. When I was at Susan Batson Studio in New York, at the end of an emotional journey on ourselves we then had to adapt and work on a character that Susan Batson herself entrusted to us because it was akin to our personality. And well, Edith and I are very similar, great fighters and workers, but above all passionate and sensitive. Read more>>
