There are many quotes I carry along to remind myself of the wisdom of people who have walked the same path before. My most recent favorite one is “If it scares you, you’re probably doing it right”. I can’t remember where I have seen this quote but it’s a very simple and powerful message that I need the most for this stage of my life. I believe not only I, but most people must also feel stuck or confused at some point in their lives. I live and work by the quote “Make it work!” by Tim Gunn/ Project Runway. In design, from concept through installation, there will always be challenges and you do have to “make it work” every single time. There is no other option. There are delays or a design doesn’t work as you had planned – you make it work. In his memoir “On Writing,” Stephen King wrote, “You must not come lightly to the blank page.” I appreciate this prompt because it reminds me to write with purpose. There’s a quote that I keep with me everywhere I go. “If you are prepared for the yes but not for the no, then you aren’t ready at all.” That quote has lead me through some hard times. It kind of molded me into someone that isn’t afraid of rejection. It’s going to happen to all of us. That doesn’t mean that it’s the end of the world if someone says no to you.
