We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Gonzales and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dominique, what do you attribute your success to?
I think it’s important to surround yourself with successful, passionate people who have an open mind. We have a great team who have been with us for years and are staples to our success. I’m continually coming up with new ideas, and they are crucial to making the vision tangible. It also helps that we get to taste cocktails all the time.
What should our readers know about your business?
Root Elixirs makes fresh, natural, and creative mixers so you can experience craft cocktails in the comfort of your own home. I’ve been bartending for ten+ years and wanted to create mixers to share with my friends and family, so they could feel confident bartending. I love entertaining, hospitality, and bringing people together through good food, drinks, and good times. Our Mixers – Ginger Beer contains fresh-pressed ginger from a local neighborhood juice bar, dried ginger, cayenne pepper, and fresh lime juice. Grapefruit Jalapeno is a margarita with a kick and has fresh grapefruit, lime, lemon, jalapenos, and agave nectar. Cucumber Elderflower is the ultimate spa/sunny day/poolside cocktail made with cucumber, lemon, elderflowers, and sugar. Strawberry Lavender is juicy and herbaceous with strawberries, lemon juice, sugar, and lavender sprigs. And one more coming out in July! 🙂
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
I’ve been in the Food & Bev industry for years so I’m always in search of a good dive, cocktail lounge, or hidden mom & pop gem. To name a few, The Varnish, Nomad, Baco Mercat, Republique, Sqirl. There are too many to list but always looking for more!
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Of course, the family and friends who show up to help us to produce our elixirs when I’m short-handed. I’m also a huge fan of How I Built This, podcast. The podcast has a great line up of entrepreneurs who share their growing pains of being a business owner.
