We had the good fortune of connecting with Erin Mitchell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erin, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
Showing them that you can be anything you want to be. That having a job you love & fulfills you is possible.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My works are mixed media with lots of texture, bright colors, & full of life. I have had challenges in finding what my particular style is sometimes, & the way I work through that is to just keep painting what I feel. Not a particular outcome, but intuitive painting, feeling the emotions through the use of color, or just the physicality of throwing the paint on a canvas can be so therapeutic for me. I did not attend an art school or have much professional training & I like that because I’ve stayed true to myself & work.
Any great local spots you’d like to shoutout?
Runyon canyon, the Ghetty, West Hollywood just peeking into random places is how I like to explore the city. And definitely on a motorcycle or walking
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My shoutout has to be hands down my parents. They encouraged me at an early age to pursue my dream of becoming an artist, & supporting me to help achieve that dream through school & outside classes. The community for appreciating & buying my art, & the charities that have worked with me in auction items.
