Greta Kovacs Schmid | Founder & CEO

We had the good fortune of connecting with Greta Kovacs Schmid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Greta, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I always knew I wanted to start my own company, it was just a matter of how I was going to do it and when I could realistically make it happen. I wanted to make sure that I was experienced enough in the fashion/beauty PR industry to start my own agency and be confident that it was going to be successful. I interned at several PR agencies while I was getting my undergraduate and then masters degrees, then worked in-house for a fashion designer as PR Manager and proceeded to work my way up at several different PR agencies until finally I knew I was ready. I got pregnant with my first son, Russ, while I was Media Director at an agency in Los Angeles, and instead of worrying about what I was going to do once I gave birth, I took advantage of the fact that I could use my maternity time wisely. That is when RAGDOLL PR was born.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
RAGDOLL PR is a full-service fashion, beauty, and lifestyle public relations agency specializing in editorial, media, influencer, celebrity, social media, and event press. We work with fashion, beauty, and lifestyle brands from all over the world and get them organically placed in various forms of media. As a company, we are most proud of the trust we build with our clients and the results and placements we generate. All the brands that work with us, love working with us and are very happy with the placements we procure for them. Running a PR agency definitely has its challenges, especially recently with COVID-19. Every day we strive to be the best that we can be, get the best placement we can, and keep our clients happy.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
My favorite spots in Los Angeles consist of Santa Monica Promenade and Pier, Manhattan Beach Pier, Venice Boardwalk, and Beverly Hills. I’d make sure to take them to Forma Restaurant & Cheese Bar in Santa Monica for some wine and cheese (my two favorite things in life besides my husband and my kids). Then perhaps a bike ride on the strand in Manhattan Beach and a little stop for some drinks and lunch at Strand House. If we were up in Beverly Hills/West Hollywood area, I’d definitely take her to Wally’s Beverly Hills and maybe a fun trip to the farmers market at the Grove. A few other favorites are Joan’s on Third, AOC, and Jon & Vinny’s Fairfax.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I’d say my biggest inspiration and the woman who deserves credit and recognition in my story is my mom, Dr. Barbara Lebron Falk. My mom is an Internal Medicine and Endocrinologist MD who has taught me the importance of education, and has always supported my journey. She has pushed me to be the best person I can be and has shown me that as a woman, I am strong, I am smart, and I am in charge of my life. I hope that I can one day be as good of a mother to my two sons as she has been to me.
