I learned a long time ago from a mentor of mine who’s a very successful entrepreneur that the measure of success in your business is not finances nor how efficient your systems are, although both are an important aspect to measure. It’s impact. I like to think about how many people I’ve helped and am currently helping. Am I doing something to help sphere of influence, my community, my city, my region, etc. thrive, or at least move toward thriving? This is an interesting question that doesn’t get asked a lot in interviews if you think about it, so I’m glad it’s being asked. Success, to me, is measured by service to the community and the trust the public places in the justice system. I’ve dedicated my life and career to public service, and as a deputy district attorney, I’ve built a track record of standing up for what’s right—always guided by the law and the facts.
