Meet Angie Christides | Deputy District Attorney and Candidate for Los Angeles Superior Court Judge, Seat 14 for June 2, 2026 election

We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Christides and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angie, what’s your definition for success?
Success, to me, is measured by service to the community and the trust the public places in the justice system. I’ve dedicated my life and career to public service, and as a deputy district attorney, I’ve built a track record of standing up for what’s right—always guided by the law and the facts. That consistency matters, because when people see decisions are principled and free from outside influence, it builds trust.
As a judge, that will mean upholding the rule of law with integrity and independence, and ensuring that every person who comes before the court is heard, treated with dignity, and that the law is applied fairly and impartially. At a time when many are questioning our institutions, success also means helping to restore and strengthen public trust in the justice system through transparency, consistency, and fairness.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
For more than 20 years, I have served our community as a Deputy District Attorney. Throughout my career, I have approached every case with the same guiding principle: justice must be fair, thoughtful, and grounded in respect for people and the law. That experience has shaped who I am and how I would serve as a judge.
I’ve worked in courthouses across Los Angeles County and spent five years in the Hardcore Gang Division, prosecuting some of the most serious and violent crimes. I’ve handled more than 100 adjudications and trials, including over 70 jury trials to verdict, more than 25 murder trials, and two death penalty cases. These experiences required calm decision-making, careful listening, and an unwavering commitment to fairness under intense pressure.
At the same time, my career has shown me that accountability and compassion are not opposites—they work together. While assigned to the Long Beach Courthouse, I had the honor of running the Veterans’ Court and reviewing hundreds of alternative sentencing requests and thousands of mental health diversion petitions. Watching veterans and other defendants regain stability, dignity, and purpose reinforced my belief that the justice system is strongest when it recognizes both responsibility and rehabilitation.
I have always been a fighter. I fight for what is right, even when it comes at personal cost. I have fought tirelessly to ensure murder victims’ families find closure, often sacrificing time with my own family and personal life. I have also fought to hold law enforcement accountable, even when it meant facing retaliation or seeing my career advancement delayed. Those experiences have strengthened my commitment to principled, fearless service, and reinforced my belief that justice must never bend to convenience or pressure.
I’ve seen firsthand how court decisions affect victims, defendants, and families alike. Those experiences have taught me to approach every matter with humility, patience, and respect, understanding that the role of a judge carries enormous responsibility.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
If my best friend were visiting, I’d want to show her the best of our natural beauty and local culture. I’d start with some time on the beach maybe Malibu or Venice —Los Angeles County has incredible spots for surfing, and catching some waves is a must for me personally. I’d also make her take one of my community yoga classes, which is a great way to relax, recharge, and connect with the community.
For lunch, I’d take them to Taverna Mar Vista—a favorite spot of mine for its fresh Greek dishes and welcoming atmosphere. After that, we’d head to Topanga Canyon for a hike or a run to take in the beautiful scenery and get a real sense of the outdoors here.
Evenings could include strolling along the coast at sunset, grabbing a coffee or a cocktail, and enjoying the energy of the city. And if she’s up for it, maybe another surf session before they leave—because there’s nothing like ending a trip with the ocean.
For me, the key is balance—activity, relaxation, and authentic experiences that reflect the community and natural beauty I love. Sharing the things I’m passionate about, like surfing, yoga, local food, and the outdoors, makes the trip personal, fun, and memorable.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
A great deal of the credit goes to my parents, Jim and Yiota, who came to this country from Greece as immigrants and made tremendous sacrifices to give me opportunities they never had. They instilled in me the values of hard work, integrity, and service to others, which have guided me throughout my life and career. I’m very proud of my Greek heritage, and if elected I would serve as the first female Greek-American judge in Los Angeles County. This reflects not just my journey, but theirs—and the opportunities this country makes possible.
