How do you think about work-life balance?

By far the most common conversation we have with the folks we interview is about work-life balance. Starting a business or pursuing a creative career makes finding work life balance really tough because there is no clear start and end to one’s work day. For me, it has been really hard to find a good balance. It has changed so much over the years. There was a good amount of time where I had put nothing but time into my music business. This was the time where I did get the most success in my music business but I was burning myself out quick, many friendships were going through a rough patch because of it. Choosing a creative career where you are basically self-employed requires a very thoughtful, deliberate approach to life. It’s so easy to get tunnel vision – where you eat, breathe and sleep for your creative endeavors. And of course, we (my sister and creative partner) did exactly that in the beginning.
