We had the good fortune of connecting with Jasmine Betancourt and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jasmine, how has your perspective on work-life balance evolved over time?
I think risk-taking can lead to good changes and desirable outcomes, particularly when the conditions are favorable. In order to pursue my dream of becoming a fashion stylist, I had to take a leap of faith. It was the best risk I could have ever taken.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, and I’m a self proclaimed fashion lover who has loved fashion for as long as I can remember. I would attribute my passion to my Cuban grandmother who would make clothes for me, and I’d model her designs for the family. Since then my passion has only grown, whether it’s styling myself or others. My determination and willingness to embrace the unknown and take risks is what has allowed me to pursue my styling dream. I’m very fortunate to work with all types of creative people with various backgrounds, this without a doubt has helped me flourish and grow in my profession. Along the way, I’ve simply learned you can’t give up on something if you truly want it. It’s easy to think of clothes as just that, clothes. However, I believe clothes can help someone land their dream job, bring life to a fictional character, or just make someone look and feel good about themself. My desire is to help people find their true authentic self, using clothes to help achieve this.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would like to thank my sister Elizabeth SantaMaria for always encouraging me and helping me become the best version of myself.
