We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron W. Bennett and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aaron W., what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I moved here from Washington State in the fall of 2018 to write on a comedy series. One of the four EPs embezzled the entire budget and went on the run from the feds. True story! So, now I’m unemployed in LA without a literary agent and no established connections as a writer. Within a few days I had fallen back on my dad’s training in construction, except on film sets. This lead to the grip and electric department, which I adore. I have tremendous respect and admiration for all of the departments, especially the PAs. Those youngsters are always trying to do their best and we share the same wonder-filled eye for film-making, in spite of our age differences. After a long day, my dad would come home tired with an armload of VHS movies to watch over the weekend and that was where I found my deeper connection with film and television. I already loved to read Fiction, but this visual element offered something new and more exciting than comics and video games. Now, even at the indie level, I get to be a part of that movie making process and I wouldn’t have it any other way. Well, mostly.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
We built our grip and electric business out of the ashes left behind from its former custodian, who sexually assaulted and abused a number of hopeful actresses in his sick quest for influence and power. We took the very thing he needed to “make their dreams come true”, exposed him, and bought it directly from all of the people he owed money to. We neutered his producing power and sent him crawling back home wrapped in civil litigation after we exposed what he was doing. We fashioned this business partially as a form of twisted, vengeful therapy and then into a legitimate entity. We built our company on literal integrity and the bonds of healing and friendship. We are proud of what we had to do and of our dear courageous friends who are still healing. Some are still trying to make it in LA, others gave it up after their assaults and we continue on for them. We feel like every time we drive our truck onto a set we are taking another step toward our dream.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
The Chinese Theater, The Academy Museum, and The Walk of Fame are always a hit. The Pantages Theater is always beautiful, too.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to send a shoutout to my closest friends who helped me survive the drama and stress of my first few years here in Los Angeles. Chris Bond, Vanessa Leigh, Chase Christensen, Katelyn Gault, Will Schoenfeldt, Matt Walker, Mateo Trujillo-Hobbs, and Kyle McCarley. Without them and my beautiful girlfriend, Janelle Jones, I wouldn’t have stayed the course.
