Meet Jeannine Fisher | Casting Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Jeannine Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jeannine, what do you attribute your success to?
Over time people have come to trust my company because I provide the best possible service no matter how big or small the project is. I have a good eye for talent and communicate openly with the Directors and Producers. All of this has allowed me to build my brand and reputation solely on word of mouth.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
The road to where I am now has been very long and had bunches of “no’s” in it. I started my own casting company in 2009 mostly doing stage plays and short films. During this time I tried repeatedly to transition into a corporate position at a studio or network position.
I literally applied to hundreds of jobs over a 10-year period and couldn’t even get a single interview. During this period of rejection, I never gave up applying, kept a positive attitude, and continued to work on my smaller projects with a strong work ethic.
At one point I just knew I was a shoo-in for a job and when I was rejected yet again, I finally hit my breaking point and had a talk with God. I said Lord I can’t do this anymore. If you want me to move on with my career you will have to make it happen for me because after this last rejection I don’t have the energy to try anymore.
2 days after I gave it to the Lord I got a call from the SVP of casting for a studio and she said, “Jeannine I am building out my team and I would love for you to come on board.”
So now I am working at a studio casting and I still have my casting company on the side.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have actually had friends come to visit me in L.A. and I ask them what they want to do. I give them a rundown of the possibilities since L.A. has so much to offer.
We have done the high-end shopping on Rodeo Drive, we have done the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Madame Tussaud’s wax museum, Graumann’s Chinese Theater, The Hollywood sign, visiting the various studios, visiting the beaches, stopping in the Malibu Canyon, taking tours of stars homes, and even taking a quick trip to Vegas.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Although I have put in the work, I would not have been successful without the many people that have supported and believed in me over the years. There are too many to name just a few.
