We had the good fortune of connecting with Aaron’s Gift Aye G and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aaron’s Gift, why did you pursue a creative career?
In 2015 my Annie Rae Rae (Aunt) passed away from breast cancer. She was in her early 50s. She was always and still is a driving force in my life. She aggressively encouraged me to sing, model, act. Whenever we had family members over she was always making me sing in front of them or dance or do something creative. After she passed, in her memory and in hopes to live up to and through my full potential I have taken my music/artistic path much more seriously.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
In 2021 I stepped down from working as a Mental Health Specialist of over 5 years with the Young Visionaries Youth Leadership Academy in San Bernardino CA. Since then I have been working for myself as a dog trainer where I train k9s and their owners in obedience, protection, and service dog training. At first, I was underselling my services, then, I was introduced into a new business mentality by my business coach Monica Stockhausen. In my first 6 months of being on my own as an Entrepreneur I made close to 50k. It was scary to go up on my prices but not after I discovered my value. I’ve learned that my capacity to be a great creator means I have to have as much freedom as possible without having to jump at the first sign of someone needing me right away. My goal as a business owner is to breed and raise a littler of Rottweilers as protection and service dogs for people in danger, victims of human sex trafficking, as well as members of the LGBTQ community who are targeted in hate crimes.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have some snacks for when my person got off the plane. If time permitted we would go shopping right away since more than likely we would be in LA. Then, rest. After gathering some relaxation from after the flight I would be preparing to do something exciting like jet ski or hang gliding.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family first. Dj Quik, I met him at one of my aunts wedding when I was about 7 or 8. I remember I was walking outside to the courtyard and he was walking inside to the venue. I accidentally bumped into, not paying attention. He said, “Aye don’t worry about it lil guy. Just keep ya head up”. I’ve lived with that memory ever since. He’s been a trail blazer as one of my mentors especially since he from the West Coast. Him, along with Snoop Dogg, Erykah Badu, Lauryn Hill, Trina, & Tupac.
