We had the good fortune of connecting with Ace2x and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ace2x, other than deciding to work for yourself, what was the single most important decision you made that contributed to your success?
The decision to take myself serious. I see many people go halfway on their dreams & with their lives. They “Want” to do/have more but aren’t willing to put in whatever it takes to get there. Even worse, they don’t think about what’s next after the goal has been reached. The day I decided that wasn’t going to be me is what set me on my creative journey, and I haven’t looked back since!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My name is Ace2x I’m 20 years old from Dallas TX, living in Hollywood. I moved out here 2 years ago at 18 & that’s when I got into actually making music. I’ve always loved music though, used the be the kid in the class the teacher would constantly have to tell me to take em out. I did film work and won awards all through high school and when I was a senior realized it wasn’t what I wanted to do forever. One day I made a beat on this online website for fun & showed it to my friends. They ripped me for how trash it was so I’m like bet “ima make a good ass beat just watch”. Fell in love with the process & realized I didn’t have to be a rapper or anything to be involved with music. I moved to LA that year & have met so many amazing people in this short time that have helped me grow into Ace2x!

I never thought I’d be an artist but now that I’ve worked my way here I feel I’m right where I’m supposed to be. I produce every now & then, engineer myself & others via protools, ableton, & logic. I also have an associates degree in music production & currently in school for my bachelors in audio production at an accelerated pace.

In terms of projects, I’m currently working on a few simultaneously. I haven’t dropped music in over a year now really honing in trying to perfect my records and marketing beforehand.
The next release will be my EP titled “Collide” or “Collision”, haven’t decided yet. It will have 5 songs & is a representation of my versatility & growth. A peek of what’s to come in terms of the quality of sound & the strength I’m finding in my voice.
After the EP I will be doing an album under the name of my rap duo “Dexterity”. Won’t say too much on it but it’s very outside of what you’ll be expecting after the EP, check out my “Intro” & “Supernova” projects to get a taste of it.
Finally, after the rollout of the Dexterity album, I will be dropping my own titled “VINCE”.

I wouldn’t say the path to this point has been easy but I understood when I chose this profession there would be challenges. I believe it’s important to understand why you want to be in this profession and visualize good intentions with your success. This turns “what I have to do” into “what I need to/want to do”. What I want to do is be the light in the dark that makes people feel like if I can do it they can too.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
To be honest I’m only 20 so I don’t really go out and all I do is work but hypothetically probably to a show of an artist we both like. I’ve never been to Joshua Tree and I hear people go there for fun so that’d be cool.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I have a wonderful team of people that have helped shape my art into what it is today.

Issac Rich – My producer, Ableton Wizard. This guy can make any idea I have and bring it to life w ease he’s a must have and great friend.

Dalen – THE MOST talented & creative guy I know. Sings his ass off and although he favors a pop/punk sound. You CANNOT put this man in a box. There isn’t a sound he can’t conquer.

Jack Garrett – This guy is the second coming of NSYNC & Backstreet Boys in terms of how he’ll blow when the world gets ahold of him. This guy makes excellent Pop records, produces/engineers himself, and plays guitar. Voice is heaven sent.

ArsNova – Nova is my mentor who’s pushed me to be great in more ways than I can count. Aside from this he’s his own artist really taking his time with the craft. He loves weird and combining old soulful vocals with new age electronic sounds.

Harmony Samuels – I intern for Harmony Samuels who is a international hit maker and has worked with various stars such as Ariana Grande, Janet Jackson & Whitney Houston. Under his leadership I continue to grow at a high level.

Sorry for the book lol
