We had the good fortune of connecting with Adam Campbell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adam, how do you think about risk?
Risk has been at the forefront of almost every decision I’ve made in my life. There is a person inside my head saying “you only get one life, this is a one in some made up -illion number, so do something special with it!” Don’t get me wrong, these risks are calculated risks. I calculate a risk as a really high or lofty goal that way should I not reach that goal I come away with a huge life lesson or skill that will help me with my next risk. Someone going to the same job everyday for the next 30 years is a risk. They are risking the opportunity to see the world, meet strangers who become lifelong friends, or starting a business. The risks I take are seen as “risks” when in reality they are just opportunities I take to have a more fulfilling life on my own terms.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
SelfieSpin360 is what keeps me up at night with stress and excitement at the same time. It is an action camera (GoPro and OSMO) accessory allowing users to film never before seen 360 degree slow motion videos. Usually these types of shots cost thousands of dollars with a drone or fancy camera. You can use your GoPro and this $20 accessory to get professional looking footage. The two biggest lessons I’ve learned are things take 5 times longer than you think and take that chance that you’ve been scared to take. Things take a long time whether it’s a college degree, getting that promotion, or growing a business. If you are starting a business let that be your number one lesson. In regards to taking a chance, trust me, starting a business and failing is a million times more full-filling compared to never trying to start a business in the first place.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Go-to-spots that helped influence SelfieSpin360 include Neptune’s Net up in Malibu and the Third Street Promenade. Both spots get you outside and offer a chance to see all sorts of walks of life. Different people with different views on life. A part of the SelfieSpin360 marketing plan came from a conversation I had with a total stranger over some delicious fried shrimp. They helped me figure out this crazy little GoPro accessory!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Parents to allow their children to fail, and fail, and fail again deserve the biggest shoutout. Thank you mom and dad! I’ve met many parents who want their kids to follow a more typical path, a more typical job, or a safer career. Those who let their children take risks and build character through those real world experiences are the champions of shoutouts. Any other business owner: the fact that there are other people out there that want to suffer, work long days, eat ramen for days straight, tap into savings, you name it. Seeing others in the same place as you in the entrepreneur role, where they came from and how far they’ve gotten is one of my biggest motivations. We are on this crazy ride together. Hold on tightly!
