We had the good fortune of connecting with Adrian Burks and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Adrian, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
I think about risk as a necessity in life. I think taking risks is what life is about, because not taking any risks leaves you nowhere exciting with a bill that you can’t afford. I believe just choosing a career in the arts is a risk, and one that I continue to choose daily. taking risks in accordance to what I want to do in life has become normal to me. As a filmmaker (actor, writer & director) anytime you commit yourself to a part or project or role or vision you’re taking risks because you are exposing yourself creatively for people to judge.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
What sets me apart from others is that I’m a multi-faceted creative, so I wear many hats; I’m an Actor, writer, director & a producer in film and television. For me I like to create universes and the characters in them, so I like to have my hands in as many things as possible. This is definitely the more complicated path in our industry because its hard to have knowledge of how everything works, and It’s definitely more time consuming. However, it works for me, and I think that in itself is a challenge. It’s helped me to branch out from just acting in projects to having my hand in more of the entirety of the creative process. I’m really excited about my film After Laughter that is currently in the festival circuit and is an award winner already. I’m also excited about a project I shot in Panama and other future projects me and my team are working on. Im also thrilled that my creative partner and I started a production company called Happy Wanderer productions (LLC), and we will start developing more creative projects associated with the production company.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My 4 year old son deserves a shout out! He honestly motivates me and pushes me to be a more patient and a more understanding human being.
