We had the good fortune of connecting with Poncho Biggs and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Poncho, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
My career has taught me many things from good to bad to ugly to beautiful. It changed me as a person for the better as far my attitude towards the business goes, how much my hard work means more than my talent, and how to learn to role with the punches that come from this crazy game!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My music was said to be different by my peers and I think its because I usually don’t try to make the same type of music as a lot of rappers, no disrespect or anything. But sometimes I just try to go in a different route with my songs even with the beats I choose. I’ve accomplished some pretty great things in my career due to the hard work I’ve put in and due to the help and support of my mom who is my manger. It wasn’t easy at all getting to where I am today. There were a lot obstacles I had get around and those difficulties taught me how to stay focused on the bigger picture of things. That’s a hustlers ambition and that’s one that I want people to know about me is that I’m a hustler and I’m goin make things happen.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend was coming into town I would go downtown, go to different clubs and go to the studios I go to record at. Chicago is a cool city, especially downtown. There’s a lot of sights to see, good restaurants to eat at, and fun things to do. A bulls game is a must too!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I wanna give a shout out to my team, the ones who been helping me get to the top since day 1. Yall know exactly who yall are!
