We had the good fortune of connecting with Aisling Lauren and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Aisling, what do you want your legacy to be?
When I think about legacy, I think about reputation.

I remember when I was just starting out in my career, still finding my footing, and being recognized for my taste. In the early 2000s, I was curating tastemakers for an online home retailer and had the privilege of working with some of the most beautiful vintage and antique pieces. I was introduced to legendary collectors like Albert Hadley and Iris Apfel, and it fascinated me to see how these icons lived with their cherished objects—many of which had rich stories from their travels.

I began my own collection in my 20s, hunting down treasures at flea markets and estate sales, always searching for pieces that would bring warmth and personality to my home. I vividly recall a shopping trip where I scored a Palm Tree floor lamp—one I had coveted for years. That moment felt like the culmination of my journey, and it naturally led to designing my friends’ homes. They wanted spaces that felt personal and authentic, not cookie-cutter.

Each of my design projects has always been guided by intention—focusing on handmade objects from artisans I admire and vintage designer pieces that will stand the test of time. I shy away from fleeting trends and instead focus on classic, unique pieces that evoke comfort and familiarity.

Now with my shop, Seoda, my offerings reflect the culmination of years of collaboration with the best artisans, travels around the world, and a curated selection of iconic designer pieces, including those by Le Corbusier, Charlotte Perriand, and George Nakashima.

The legacy we aim to create with Seoda is simple: to provide timeless treasures that inspire the new owner to cherish them for years to come. Each piece we source is meant to be an enduring investment in taste, quality, and personal style—a forever piece that can be passed down and remembered for its beauty and significance.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
My professional journey was not easy, I started my first job out of college was a merchandise assistant at a fast-paced start-up in a new city with a 7 month old baby at home. I only have been a working-mother in my 15 year long professional career which meant I did not have the time to prioritize myself for most of those years. I am super passionate and goal-oriented, so I poured myself into my career which paid off with promotions, new opportunities and eventually entrepreneurship. My path to being an entrepreneur was affording the flexibility to attend the kids appointments and activities as I could not dedicate those 10 hour work days once I comitted to have another child. I ran my interior design firm for five years, did countless beautiful projects all over and managed an epic team, but once the Writer’s Strike hit Hollywood, my business naturally slowed which gave me the opportunity to focus on my other passions which lead to Seoda. In a way brings me back to where I started, selling beautiful vintage designer furniture and decor online, but now I am in control of the merchandise fully. My passion is hunting the world for treasures, now I get to share those pieces with others through my curated channels.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I do a lot of hikes and love nature so I would take them on my local trail Fryman and to the Studio City’s farmers market on Sunday. Dinner at Marvin is a must, their pasta and hamachi crudo are sublime. I would take them to the new Santa Monica San Vicente Bungalows for lunch for the epic beach views without the crowds. We would visit some of my favorite local vintage spots; Now Voyager in Silver Lake, Midcentury LA in the Valley and Nickey Kehoe in West Hollywood followed by pickle and beef tacos at Escuela Taqueria. A tour of the Hollyhock House or Greystone Manner Gardens followed by a matcha late at Alfred’s!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Karen Kimmel! I planned a party with her many moons ago and her work-ethic and taste level continue to inspire me. She is community focused, has the best street style and is an amazing mother. She has shown me and other women that you can follow your dreams if you have the passion behind it.
