We had the good fortune of connecting with Alan Katz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alan, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
Actually, I never really thought into it. After I performed my first wedding, and everybody told me how amazing it was that I should quit my job and start marrying people for a living I said why not! I put up the websites started marketing it, and it turned into the biggest company of its type in the industry.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
If you would’ve told me 20 years ago that I would own one of the most successful wedding officiating companies in the United States and then I would be traveling across the country speaking of conventions on success and then I would’ve married over 7000 couples I would’ve put you in a loony bin. Over the last 20 years my success has been amazing with a couple stumbles along the way. And most of the stumbles or because of people associated with and trusted only to be let down. But nothing will really get me down for too long. I’ll find ways around it to make myself bigger and better than I was the day before because that’s how I roll.
I have made my brand the go to brand in Southern California. We are everywhere at every wedding venue at every networking event we are they are promoting the Great Officiants brand has the brand that people will choose when searching for somebody to perform their ceremony. It took, and takes a lot of hard work every day to continue this journey of being the best.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I will probably take people to The Magic Castle because magic will sometimes hokey can still be a lot of fun and know that they would be in for a good dinner and a night for entertainment

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I guess my biggest shout out would be to my wife, who believes in me and supports me emotionally and mentally and helps me keep it real every day. Since the day we met and every day since she’s been there by my side, encouraging me to be the best that I can be.
