We had the good fortune of connecting with Albrielle McFadden and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Albrielle, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
My favorite affirmation is “What is for me, will not miss me.” I understand that not everything or everyone is for me and the things that are will not pass me. I can manifest anything I want in life and I have peace in knowing that what’s for me will come to me, of course with the help of me actually putting in the work for it.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a contemporary and hip-hop dancer from South Florida. I have been dancing for over 20 years and it is my absolute passion. Dance allows me to release in ways words can’t and I am able to tell a story using my body and I think that is so beautiful. I was able to get to where I am now by constantly training and taking as many classes as I can. I also perform here and there when the time allows it and I also create dance films. To get where I am now was not easy at all, through emotional, physical, and financial troubles; I honestly thought I was going to give up. It became hard to go to dance and take class, but I knew I belonged there so I kept pushing and I made it through. God and my support system have been my backbone throughout my career and without them motivating me I would not be here. I want the world to know that your current problems and situations do not define you and they are not permanent, you can get through it, just push.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
My best friend and I are pretty much the same person, so if he visited for a week there would definitely be a lot of vegan restaurants involved, my favorite is Rabbit Hole in Pompano Beach, FL. Then I probably would take him to the beautiful Hollywood Beach, so we can skate by the water and have a nice dance session on the sand. For the night life, we probably would eat dinner then take a dance class at BreakinMia and stay for open floor. We would finish the weekend off by having mimosas and enjoying Downtown Fort Lauderdale.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
First and foremost, I would love to shoutout my mom, Beverly and my sister Kristen for their support through all the ups and downs of my dance career and for continuously motivating and uplifting me. I would also love to shoutout my best friend, Barrington for encouraging me to always do my best and being there through the very difficult times of my life. And lastly, I would love to shoutout my dance family at BreakinMIA and AlonzoWill Creative Dance company for creating that safe space to allow me to express myself unapologetically.
