We had the good fortune of connecting with Sharonna Green and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Sharonna, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
Hair has been my thing since an adolescent. I was taught to make money doing what i love. I love braiding. I started really doing hair in the 6th grade. I used to braid my friends hair for $25-$50 to make money to go to the movies on the weekends. The better i got with my craft, the more i fell in love. Getting the amazing reactions i get from my clients when i finish their hair lets me know i chose the right career path; it brings me joy. I get the opportunity to connect with my clients on a more personal level, and we have some pretty good chair talks. My clients allow me to bring my creativity to life with their hair.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I would have to say what sets me apart from others would have to be my professionalism, im very stern about how i run my business but i still make my clients feel appreciated, comfortable and looking good. I am my only competition, my goal is to always be better than yesterday. Getting where i am today was not easy, it took a lot of patience, discipline and sleepless nights. I’ve overcome the challenges by staying positive, pushing forward and never giving up. I learned its okay to say no sometimes, don’t overwork yourself. When you make yourself too available it’s going to always be expected.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Im a LA baby! There’s soo much to do in the city, but me, i love to have a good time and eat. You can never go wrong with bar hopping in Hermosa Beach, bowling, catching a vibe at Berkshire, or The District. Brunch is a must; The Court Cafe, Met Her At A Bar, Eat This Cafe, good food and mimosas. Possibly hit up a day party with Day Party LA.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My friends, family and clients definitely deserve a shoutout. I wouldn’t be where i am today if it weren’t for them all trusting me to do their hair; Allowing me to perfect my craft. When i got serious about doing hair i used to be so nervous. I got so many great reactions and good feedback it helped boost my self-esteem, they all helped make me more confident in my craft and in myself.
