We had the good fortune of connecting with Aleen Khachatourian and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Aleen, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
We are creator beings by nature and to be human is to be an artist.
It has always been a given for me.
Expression and sharing are not what I do, they are how I function.
Freedom is one of my core values.
My spirit feels more expansive than I can try to perceive.
To wake up and craft my days exactly as I want, when I want, where I want. Infinitely.
I know that I’m here to lend a unique frequency to the collective (as is every single human being), so it has always a priority for me to curate my life to allow for that.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am in a state of constant learning! I feel like a sponge. I study human beings and the world around me. Every moment is art, and I am moved by the intricacies of duality and the paradoxical nature of reality.
My work is an unmasking of the shadow and a bridge where it can meet the light that it is, by being the present moment. I see it all as the same thing, whether I am singing, dancing, writing, painting, cooking, laughing, or even just connecting with someone.
As a life-longer singer and writer, I strive to tune to the most resonant frequency -disseminating my experience- in order to unlock remembrance in others, so that they may step into their empowerment.
I am most excited by that moment when it clicks for someone.
Working with my voice has been the greatest gift because I am simultaneously learning and integrating; then sharing.
There have been many challenges along the way, and it all boils down to how true I have been to myself.
The biggest challenge has been cutting through the layers of programming to continually honor my authentic expression.
One of the most important lessons I’ve learned (that I can’t stress enough) is that emotions are our greatest assets.
Growing up, I used to beat myself up for how sensitive I was, and I’ve realized along the way that working with our emotions is what makes us alchemists. We are designed to move that energy through us, and the more we practice working with them, the more we level up. It feels like unlocking superpowers!
Showing up in each moment is an inside job, It all starts from within. Presence is the antidote to everything and taking extreme responsibility for my reality is a liberation, unlike anything I’ve ever experienced.
My brand and I are one; unified. No separation. I am just a channel, like everyone else and I show up every single day to serve whatever wants to come through.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The beautiful thing about California is that you can go skiing in the mountains in the morning and end the day with a beach sunset. We would have some mountain time in Yosemite and definitely, stopover in the hometown (Los Angeles) for some Muffin Can Stop Us, Taco Azteca, and just about any great coffee shop you can think of – Komquot is a recent favorite (Highland Park). Then we’d venture to Malibu for some seafood and a secret spot in the canyon for some star-gazing ( I only know how to get there by sight). A little bit of Joshua Tree time is a must – the dessert is the grounding we all need. And all throughout, sprinkling in some amazing gatherings along the way. A week is just a warm-up so I’d try to convince them to stay for at least a month 😉
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have to give a shoutout to my people and all the amazing humans I’ve met along the way.
My MOONS Creative family for the inspiring space they’ve provided.
Growing up in Los Angeles, as a first-generation Armenian-American, I’ve continually felt the strength of the Armenian community. It has been this rooted network of incredible human beings that are willing to not only show up but also share their abundance. When you spend all your life in one city, you not only have family that moonlight as your friends, but friends that have always been family. Our community is love, resilience, perseverance, generosity, tradition, values, and a hell of an amazing time!
