We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex Doyle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
My thought process when starting the brand was to present vintage clothes through a luxury lens. I have started multiple brands before this, and wasn’t able to produce garments at the same quality level as vintage clothes. As well as, in my own personal style, I always gravitated towards vintage clothes.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I would say what sets me apart from others, is just the vision we have behind the brand, as well as the business model. We take a lot of pride in our Pop-Up’s, where we will travel around the U.S to present our retail experience, as well as consistently trying to present our own narrative through design, and digital presentation. We want to bring something unique to the city we live in, and to give people who have the same interests as myself, a place where they feel at home, as we are opening our first showroom early next year.

I would say I am most proud of how quickly the brand has expanded in such a short amount of time, as well as being able to be given the opportunity to showcase what’s in my head consistently. I am forever grateful for the people who has supported from the beginning, as well as the new individuals to come later.

To get where I am professionally now, took quite awhile. Before Pearled Ivory, I had multiple brands that ended up closing. It was a long process of being pushed back, and learning from. This all started about 4 years ago, in my Junior year of college. I moved home from college early, and consistently kept trying to learn more and more about branding, product development, etc. Through all of this time moving back home, I was trying to figure out what I wanted to do with my life, and fashion was something I saw myself spending the most time on and had such a fascination with. I just never gave up for 4 years, and this is the first time, and am grateful to say, that all of those years was worth never giving up.

I don’t think my brand is anywhere close to where I think it can reach, as we are not even a year old yet, but, as a lesson to everyone who wants to do something similar, don’t give up! Your time is coming, you’re just not ready yet. Ask as many of your favorite brands if you can intern, do things for free, dive head first in it all. There will never be a “perfect time” to start, start ASAP, that way you are way further along 5 years later.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
In the city of Orlando, I would first take them to my favorite coffee spot, Deeply Coffee, in Downtown Orlando. Then, we would walk across the street and take a stroll around Lake Eola. After, we would go get breakfast at Kekes. Then we can go hangout walking around downtown, or going to Winter Park. Then, at night, we would go to Hanson’s or The Guesthouse for some drinks, which are some of my favorite places to hang at.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My father is probably my biggest mentor, as he had multiple retail stores for a majority of my life, as well as a brand where he would travel to multiple Trade Shows. Retail and luxury has always surrounded me, whether it being me, as a young child, sitting at their warehouse, or helping with their stores.

About 2.5 years ago, I interned for a brand, Duvin. The owners of the brand, Shaun, Austin, & Garrett, as well as the warehouse manager that worked there at the time, Ryne, taught me a tremendous amount in the development of my knowledge on branding, manufacturing, etc.

Currently, I am surrounded by many talented and creative individuals within my own friend group, who consistently challenge, teach, and inspire me, daily. To name a few, Jerry, Alex, Daniel, Markus, Noelle, and Markis.
