Meet Alex & Nyanda | Owners, Elevations Hookah

We had the good fortune of connecting with Alex & Nyanda and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alex & Nyanda, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Both of us were seeking a way to liberate ourselves and achieve financial freedom. With this in mind, we began our entrepreneurship journey and started our own business. While brainstorming ideas, we realized that hookah is something we enjoy recreationally that could also be a profitable business. Our first step was finding a name, and we decided on “Elevations.” This word represents the intrinsic and external motivators that inspire us to seek new challenges and reach new heights. Our daily goal is to be better than we were yesterday while our overarching goal is to constantly innovate and elevate and to be trailblazers in all of our endeavors. Once we settled on our name we started forming our business by registering it, build our brand materials, and beginning our outreach process. We worked tirelessly to build this brand from the ground up and it has taught us so much in every aspect.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a mobile hookah catering company the offers hookah services for private events, restaurants, lounges, etc. We are mostly known for our ability to cater large gatherings and often working with event promoters to elevate their events. What makes us unique is our tunnel vision. We acknowledge that we might not have been the first, and we respect those who came before us, but we are only concerned with our trajectory and growth. Elevations Hookah’s only aim is to be better than we were yesterday. With this goal in mind, we have achieved our success’ thus far through creating and maintaining our relationships, being poised, and leaving our mark on every event we cater to. When looking at where we started versus where we are now, we are humbled and grateful for everyone who has given us an opportunity. This journey has not been easy, and we’ve heard more no’s than yeses; nevertheless, we have continued our outreach efforts, and each event we get was intended for us. We are confident in knowing that what missed us was never for us, and we strive ahead. One lesson we’ve learned is to never make a decision based solely on financial gain. We only exist because of our guiding principles: integrity, respect, and diligence. We have learned that each partnership we pursue reflects our business regardless of potential exposure or potential financial benefit we must always do our due diligence to ensure the choices we make will reflect our values. We want everyone to know that Elevations Hookah is more than just a hookah company and to keep an eye on us because we are committed to being innovators.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We’d like to shoutout Soul Sunday LA and Milennium Age. Soul Sunday LA is a collective that hosts events in the Los Angeles area every other Sunday. They have been dominating the LA party scene one event at a time and bringing a midwest swag to their events. Our relationship with them began in June and it has been such a blessing to have another group with similar interests supporting and uplifting us! Milennium Age is a collective. that hosts events all across the country and has a great base here in Los Angeles. Our favorite aspect of their brand is the silent parties which allow partygoers to listen to different DJing styles and create their own experience. Milennium Age has been a great partnership for our brand and we appreciate them.

We’d also like to shout out Dope Trap Art. DTA is an artistic collective that hosts paint and sips in various cities but they are based in LA. Their events are filled with great energy, great music, and powered by a great crowd. We are honored to be a part of their events
