We had the good fortune of connecting with Alina Lavrova and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alina, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
Remember how, in the wizard’s tale, the wand chooses the wizard? Creativity operates in much the same way—it cannot be cultivated deliberately; it is irrational and unpredictable. How can one impose order on chaos? The desire to create bursts forth as soon as it awakens within a person. Even if you did not expect it or resist it, you have no choice in the matter. Congratulations, now you have talent! You are embarking on a marvelous journey filled with discoveries, endless searching, agonies, doubts, euphoria, inspiration, energy, and curiosity!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I have every right to be proud that I am still on my path of growth. It has not been an easy journey; it has been thorny and convoluted. I have taken wrong turns more than once and stumbled through complete darkness, sometimes feeling as though I wasn’t making any progress at all. Yet, in the end, it turned out I was headed in the right direction. I do not know where this path will lead, but I am eager to find out!

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I enjoy going on hikes with my husband. The Los Angeles area offers a wealth of options to suit all tastes and preferences—waterfalls, caves, canyons, forests, cliffs, and mountain trails. I love escaping to nature and would be happy to share my secret spots for recharging.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I have always been inspired by the depth one can glimpse through the lens of a camera, by the myriad worlds that lie beyond it. I can recall numerous people and events that have shaped me as an artist, but I want to talk about something less apparent—the very magic on the other side of the camera. I find immense joy in observing the world and noticing its nuances. My motivation is rooted in the desire to discover new details.
