We had the good fortune of connecting with Alla Chiara Luzzitelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alla Chiara, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
There was a time in my adolescence when I played a lot of sports, I did it because I needed to let off steam and somehow get rid of everything I had to hold back in the past, at a certain point physical activity was no longer enough because I realised that the real outlet I needed was an emotional one. I was 14 years old and I was hungry for life, to know myself as a person, as a woman, as a child and as an adult. In my past I had to become an adult too quickly so there was no good time to manage my growth. It started with photography, but the art I had always loved but had not mastered was writing. It started first with self-portraits because I needed to know my face, my body, the perception of the self reflected in the mirror or in other people’s rations, I needed to know who Alla was desperately so that was what drove me to take this path.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Nowadays it would not be possible to distinguish green from red in the art world, everyone is an artist, everyone has a say, everyone knows everyone…. this era will also end sooner or later, in any case on a technical level they make what I do many others but the substantial difference is self-knowledge, I don’t think of the final result as a product or a result to be compared with others, before arriving at the final result there is an emotional journey that I must and want to follow with myself itself, sometimes it only takes a few months and other times over 6 months especially for film projects.
There are times that I don’t open the project for months, I have to be ready, speaking of non-commercial projects.

Having studied cinema in all its forms, I am very passionate about neuroscience and how our brain reacts based on the images that are proposed through any screen, the empathy that is created thanks to mirror neurons and so on… through these studies you realize beyond the technicalities that the essential part of both the use of the image and its creation is part of one’s “Ego” but be careful it is not understood as in the dictionary but has to do with Kant’s philosophy.

I got to where I am now by skipping most of my adolescence, many times instead of building friendships at school or elsewhere I worked with people older than me, especially in the fashion industry. In my adolescence I did the real apprenticeship by commuting between Turin and Milan on weekends and during the week to study and take exams, my adolescence was 80 percent like this, I was hungry to know, to compare myself and to learn and also I didn’t feel comfortable with my peers, I felt misunderstood for many years from when I was little and even up until university… this never got me down though..

I have learned to know time in many of its nuances, on a design and personal level, time allows you to have mental and emotional awareness and clarity, there is no rush.

I want the world to know that each person has an “I” and must shout it, it is not easy since we are forced to follow many things like a routine in a society, I want the world to know about me that I have no masks but only perspectives and that I can see people in a tangible way even if they try to hide in some way. The artist in me perfectly reflects what the human being in everyday life tries to hide. There are many other things to say but it would take a film 🙂

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
It depends on which friend it is, if he is a city person or not…… but I would always choose to take my friend out of the city, to listen to the silence full of noises, you don’t have to do anything, we are no longer able to sit still and listen, I think it might be the best solution on a human level. On a tourist level there are a thousand options as in any city.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I think it is fitting, kind and intentional to dedicate this to my first love. Love is a fundamental point in my life, in all its nuances, from the love of parents or grandparents, to friends or a partner. In this case I dedicate it as I will always dedicate anything I do, to my first true love, to the ‘fallen flower’ I like to call it. Everything ends, it is true, but love remains, especially true love, this love has given me everything, joy, pain, melancholy, serenity and many other things.
Second but not least to my grandfather Silvano, who taught me what kindness is.
