We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Mirosevic and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I had always wanted to have my own business (in my early 20’s, I remember thinking, “I’m never going to have a 9 – 5” … haha joke was on me with that one!) I started Bliss’d in 2018 while working a full-time job as a bath salt company. While self-care has always been at the root of Bliss’d, it wasn’t until I got pregnant and had my son in 2019 that I discovered my true WHY for Bliss’d – and then it took me another three years to get the wheels in motion for this current version (they say slow and steady wins the race, right?!)

I decided to go all in on Bliss’d nearly a year ago and while it certainly hasn’t been easy – I’ve never been more excited about my (career) path. Even though I have no idea how things will play out, I’m glad I’m giving it my all so at the very least, I can say I tried!

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My business, Bliss’d, helps fellow women live more joyful, connected and fulfilling lives through the power of journaling. I am creating a full journal line, one by one!

The idea for my business was born during my first postpartum experience in 2019 when I experienced postpartum depression. At the suggestion of my therapist, I started journaling as an additional tool to help me (alongside medicine) and discovered I really loved journaling! Both helped immensely – and I like to say that my journaling practice stuck long after the medicine finished.

During my discovery phase of journaling, I tried every journal under the sun and could never find the perfect one – a blank notebook felt overwhelming and the guided journals I used felt too rigid, with morning and/or evening specific prompts or unnecessary trackers I didn’t use (looking at you, water trackers!).

I wanted an easy-to-use, lightly guided journal that could be used any time of day (so important!), so I decided to create my own – our Time to Reflect journal. It’s based on the format I used (in a blank notebook) to help me start – and maintain – my journaling practice. The format is simple, yet effective with quotes and affirmations throughout to inspire and motivate.

While this journal was the catalyst for the launch of my business, I’m creating an entire line of easy-to-use and flexible journals, all designed to help women live more joyful, fulfilling and connected lives.

While the path has certainly not been easy, I have always wanted to have my own business so I think having that inner drive makes it all worth it – I am on my right path (for now, at least)!

One other aspect of my business that I believe sets it apart is my non-profit partnership. Using my business as a force for good is important to me – I love supporting brands that give back and always knew I wanted to do the same! In line with my mission to help moms live more connected, joyful and fulfilling lives, Bliss’d is a proud partner of the SeekHer Foundation, an advocacy group for women’s mental health. As an advocacy project of WellSeek, SeekHer Foundation is on a mission to bridge the gender gap of mental health through advocacy, research, and support for women changemakers who are making a difference in their local communities. My plan is to give 10% of Bliss’d profits each year to SeekHer.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Ohh this is a fun question! I’m going to give you a list of all my favorite spots in LA…

Eat/Drink

Clark Street in Brentwood
Fig in Santa Monica (love their happy hour!)
Pace in Laurel Canyon (a fave for girls dinners!)
Esters Wine Bar in Santa Monica
Spumoni in Santa Monica

Go/See/Do

Temescal Canyon for hikes (with friends or my husband) and nature time (with the kids)
The beach, of course! In the summer we like to go to the beach by Annenberg Community Beach House because it’s the best of both – beach and splash pad/pool!
Wayfarers Chapel followed by brunch at Nelsons at Terranea (always feels like vacation)
The Venice canals
Walking down Abbot Kinney

Wellness

Hot 8 Yoga
Santa Monica Stairs
Perspire Sauna Studio

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I love this question! I want to dedicate my shoutout to two pillars of support in my journey – my incredible husband and the amazing female founders I’ve had the privilege of connecting with – and becoming friends with – over the past year. My husband is a source of encouragement, love, and belief in my abilities to achieve my dreams. His support has been the bedrock of my success, and I’m grateful for the shared journey we’re on.

I’d also like to shout out the inspiring female founders I’ve had the pleasure of meeting through the various entrepreneur groups I’m a part of. These other female founders have become my friends through the highs and lows of entrepreneurship, offering valuable mentorship and inspiration, understanding, and a shared commitment to success. Prior to starting my entrepreneurial journey, I didn’t have a large network of founders to lean on for support, inspiration, and friendship and now I feel so lucky to have that!

So to those who have played a role in my story – thank you for your support, camaraderie, and inspiration. This is a path I would not want to walk on without you!
