We had the good fortune of connecting with Allie Rick and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Allie, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I consider myself lucky in that I knew without a shadow of a doubt I wanted to be a performer from a very early age. I began taking dance and acting lessons as a child and instantly fell in love. I feel the most “me” when I am dancing and acting and I couldn’t imagine myself doing anything else as a profession. I have held that vision for myself and never wavered in my decision to pursue dance and acting professionally. When I was in my early twenties, I made the big move to Los Angeles and have been training and working on my craft ever since. I love that when you are in an artistic and creative career there is truly no limit to what you can do. There are endless challenges you can set for yourself and there is no cut and dry path you can take. I will never be bored or stagnant in this career path and I am incredibly grateful for that!

Please tell us more about your work. We’d love to hear what sets you apart from others, what you are most proud of or excited about. How did you get to where you are today professionally. Was it easy? If not, how did you overcome the challenges? What are the lessons you’ve learned along the way. What do you want the world to know about you or your brand and story?
Being a dancer and actor isn’t just my career, it truly is in the fabric of who I am as a person.  My journey has had some bumps along the way, the biggest being when my dad passed away unexpectedly when I graduated from college. This was a major turning point in my life and I had to face a tough decision. Did I want to stay in Milwaukee, WI and support my family, or still follow through with my career path and move to LA? I knew in my heart that my Dad would have wanted me to pursue my dreams since I had been training for this career my whole life, so I packed everything and moved across the country. When I came to LA, I was lucky enough to get signed to an agency within the first month or me being here. Since then, I have worked on many jobs that I dreamed of as a little girl such as music videos with amazing artists, live performances, roles on Television, and dancing on stage at award shows. Going through my Dad’s passing shaped me into the person and artist I am today and helped me dig deeper into my craft, Whenever you go through something of that magnitude, it can shake up your entire outlook on life. For me, I think it helped me realize that life is too short to not just go for it!

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If I had a friend visiting for a week here is a breakdown of some of my favorite things to do in LA!

1. Visit The Huntington Museum in Pasadena! This is one of my favorite spots in all of LA because it is off the beaten path and full of art & culture.  It is both a museum and botanical gardens and I go there to get inspired creatively.

2. Spend the day in Manhattan Beach followed by drinks at The Strand House, Manhattan beach is so much more chill than the popular Santa Monica Beach and I prefer the more relaxed beach vibe.

3. Hike Los Liones Trail just before sunset. My absolute favorite hiking trail in all of LA!

4. Dinner at Il Pastaio in Beverly Hills. Their food is amazing, and the people watching is great too! Perfect for out-of-towners who want to see the glamour of LA.

5. Watch a movie at The Hollywood Forever Cemetery! Such a unique experience and I love that you can set up your own little picnic.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Thank you to my parents for always supporting me endlessly! You encouraged me unconditionally, worked extra jobs to pay for my lessons, and always help me whenever I have needed it. I wouldn’t be where I am today without you and I am forever grateful.
