We had the good fortune of connecting with Almie Rose Vazzano and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Almie Rose, career-wise, where do you want to be in the end?
I’d love a career that supports me through my creativity, whether it’s YouTube, writing, or something I haven’t even imagined yet.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I want to start by saying I have no idea what I’m doing, and I think we should normalize that. As long as we keep putting ourselves out there and don’t give up, we’re doing great.

I’m a pop culture commentator who sometimes appears on TV or in magazines to talk about entertainment, lifestyle, and pop culture. I’m also a bit of a Disneyland historian, which is a kind way of saying Disney adult. I channel these interests into content for Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok.

With a background in acting, writing, and journalism, I bring those tools to creating series like “5 Things You Didn’t Know About [insert topic like a movie or actor],” which taps into my love of research and storytelling. I also do “Chaotic Food & Drink Reviews”, where I quickly (and hopefully hilariously?) review food from Los Angeles or the Disneyland Resort. I love making unexpected Disney-related content, like my video “5 Places to Have a Life Crisis in the Disneyland Resort,” which surprisingly resonated with so many people. I’m already working on a follow-up!

These videos started as a way to get more comfortable on camera for work, but now I love it and hope to make it my full-time work. I recently relaunched my 14-year-old YouTube channel with shorts and full-length funny Disneyland vlogs, like “I Went as Larry David to Oogie Boogie Bash, Here’s What Happened.”

Putting myself out there can feel like a battle against my own cringe, but it’s always worth it. Life is short, we’re barely on this planet, and I’m done worrying about being cringe when I could be having fun.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Obviously, I’d encourage them to go to Disneyland, and I’d happily be their guide. I’d also love to show them around Walt Disney’s old Los Angeles neighborhood, Los Feliz and Silver Lake, which also happens to be mine. His first studio is now a copy shop near Figaro Bistrot, which is a great happy hour spot. We could also stop by Gelson’s, located where his second studio once stood, to hit up the wine bar, because who doesn’t love drinking wine under the harsh glare of supermarket lighting?

For amazing smash burgers (unrelated to Walt but absolutely worth it), I’d take them to Burgers Never Say Die or For the Win. I’m sure Walt would have approved. Keeping with the Old Hollywood theme, we’d do dinner at Musso & Frank, then catch a movie at the Vista. The restoration there is stunning, and I love how they show vintage trailers before the film.

If they wanted to check out the west side of town, I’d suggest they watch it on YouTube because I’m definitely not driving there.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’d love to shoutout my husband, Chris Dotson, for being a brilliant, hilarious weirdo like me. He’s always supported my creative projects and constantly inspires me with his own.

For fun, he’s written two novels, “Eat with Caution” and “The Lumberjerk,” which perfectly capture his comedic style and wit. He also makes these bizarrely funny videos where he stands in front of random statues or trees and edits them into deadpan masterpieces. Sometimes, I get to be in them!

Honestly, marrying someone who shares your sense of humor is the best life hack. You can follow him on Instagram @dotsonplus.
