We had the good fortune of connecting with Alvi Ahmed and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Alvi, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Risk is necessary for success and without the presence of it, normalcy is inevitable. Biggest risk I ever took was dropping out of college to pursue music. It caused a huge distress in my relationship with my parents and have lost many dear people along the journey. Despite the new struggles and hiccups that emerged, I knew my love for music and what I was doing is so strong that I put full faith into God to rebuild damaged relationships to something much stronger and loyal. I was given an ultimatum of either staying under my parent’s roof and finishing school or leaving to do music. I asked them for a chance to prove myself and prove that I’m serving out my purpose. Fast forward two years and I’ve dropped an album, multiple singles, and performed at a sold out venue, the NOVO, opening for NLE Choppa. With time, God has healed many relationships and introduced new people and mindsets that I am forever grateful for.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Ever since a kid, I knew I was meant to be a part of change. For the better. Going from dreams of being an actor to making my own stories fold out on camera, my ideas were always visionary. I tried to figure out a way to express my emotions and experiences and music became my way to do just that. My music sets me apart from others because I am creating a fusion style of music that hasn’t been introduced to people in my community or anywhere else, really. I am proud to have made it to this point of my journey because I’ve been through setback after setback and I’ve been able to persevere and create the highest quality of music without the backing of labels or industry executives. The journey definitely hasn’t been easy but it allowed me to learn that nothing is ever going to come to you because you want it. You have to go out and take the necessary steps to make it happen. I want the world to know that the journey has just begun and there is more to come.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First spot is my restaurant, Green Chili’s. Nothing hits like some authentic Indian food. I also love E.P. & L.P. as they have such good vibes and can’t forget about the drinks, Sex on The Beach is a must. They got different movies playing every night on a rooftop, and they make sure to make it a one of one experience. I’m an amusement park goer as well so would have to swing by Six Flags and Universal. The beach is a must for me as well, and Malibu is my place. The PCH holds a lot of beauty during the drive, but you’re taking that anyways on the way to Malibu so you’ll get a 2-for-1 deal. All in all, LA has countless activities as this is the City of Angels.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Throughout my music endeavors, I’ve met countless talented musicians, artists, producers, and engineers. One person that really pushed me to work harder was my good friend Zesh. Working with various industry engineers and artists, he always brought valuable and resourceful knowledge to our time together. From showing me the basics of how to lay down different layers of my vocals to building mini projects together with multiple tracks, Zesh really saw the talent and potential in me and rode the vibe he was feeling.

These opportunities have directly caused a ripple effect with my music career. It has given me the chance to work with many new artists and producers. My producer now, As If !, has really been helping me take my music to the next level. Much like Zesh, his industry experience really allows us to have extremely influential and productive sessions. Working with many popular LA artists such as AzChike and $teve Cannon, my r&b vocals mixed with As If’s west coast style really allows us to make a magic that’s one of a kind. BSR (Better Sounds Recording) has brought me opportunities to die for and I’m excited for what’s to come.
