We had the good fortune of connecting with Amber Costilow and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Amber, how do you define success?
For me, success means working for myself, sharing my passion, and making a positive impact. I feel successful when I keep promises to myself – usually the things that either require discipline, or bring me joy. It means having enough time & money for activities that I enjoy, as well as the means to retire comfortably. My dream-life involves building a business that allows me to travel often.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Wellness is my passion, and it feels impossible for me to do anything else but share. I know that I am on this planet to help people, movement is my preferred way to do that. Fitness has never been a side-gig; I’ve been a full-time yoga instructor since 2012, and have continued to further my education and expand my offerings regularly. Since we’ve been in this pandemic, the way that I offer my services has changed. On March 16, I immediately started offering classes daily on Instagram Live. In April, I launched my first exclusively online 200 hour yoga teacher training, which forced me to level up my organizational skills. It was one of the best trainings yet! Recently, I’ve embraced my niche, which is women’s work. This is where I really shine, and where I am finding my people. Because of my own struggle with self-acceptance, and the tools that I have learned along the way, I am in a good position to lead other women that want to learn to fill their own cup. Currently, I’m most excited by my eight-week feminine embodiment courses on Zoom, which I jokingly call “Lady-Church.” Each week we meet for lecture, movement, and discussion. Presenting a variety of topics, my goal is to help women understand themselves better and create a foundation of inner safety so that they can step more confidently toward their authentic desires.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m just gonna answer these as if we weren’t living in a pandemic. OC: Sidecar Donuts, hike Top of the World, 1000 Steps Beach, Kean Coffee LBC: Yoga on the Bluff, Queen Mary LA: The Getty Museum, Wisdome LA, Fashion District, Grand Central Market, Hollywood
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Natasha Mirinov, owner and founder of Beach Cities Yoga in Hermosa Beach, took a chance on me when I was new to California. We entered into business partnership, where she offered her studio space to host my 200 hour yoga teacher training program.. This was the first time that I had assistance with the program, and it opened me up to the magic of collaborations. Her contributions and encouragement was instrumental in helping me find my professional footing. I am so grateful!
