We had the good fortune of connecting with Jonquil Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Jonquil, why did you decide to pursue a creative path?
I find that it’s the only thing that truly feeds my soul. I’ve always had a yearning for creative outlets my whole life, and my mom was very instrumental in letting me explore that side of myself. Getting to exercise my creativity and plan outfits, shoots, locations, photo ideas has been such a rewarding experience!
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I wouldn’t say that it’s easy, and I’m definitely still learning as I go, but I will say that my blog has really helped me build a community and make connections. It has also helped me see the world and my city in a new light! I feel as though I’m still overcoming challenges and growing, but the one thing you have to have is determination and drive. Content creation can be daunting and a lot of work, it’s also slow growth, so you just have to keep going and growing and striving to be better. I think the one thing that is a great take away from my brand specifically, is that I am always open to helping others grow as well. Also, for the main reason that I started my blog, I want others to know that you don’t have to spend a fortune in order to put amazing outfits together.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I definitely think Downtown San Antonio is starting to bloom and get a little more “youthful”. There’s a lot more to do now, than just going to the Riverwalk and seeing the Alamo. I would go to the Pearl, get margaritas at La Gloria and just chill
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Honestly my mom, she has always pushed me to realize my creative visions and has always supported me in everything I take on. She is my biggest cheerleader.
