We had the good fortune of connecting with Ambyr Michelle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ambyr, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Taking risks opens doors. There are two kinds of people in this world: people who take risks or people who play it safe. When I would play it safe, opportunities would never present themselves. When I made the decision to take risks and allow God to do the rest, my life completely shifted. It’s about executing even when you don’t know the outcome; that’s when the blessings come. Don’t think too much, just do.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m an actor and filmmaker and what sets me apart is my uniqueness. My ability to tell stories through MY lens and MY experiences. I’m excited to share more of my visions in the near future and collaborate with other creators who have a vision to show authentic stories that aren’t often being told. I got to where I am today by actually doing the work, writing myself roles that the film industry wasn’t displaying. After I get the scripts to where I want them, I call on my amazing team, who just wants to create as well, and we make magic. It’s definitely not easy but when I have a passion for something, I just keep going because it’s important to me to finish what I start. I overcame the challenges by learning from the mistakes and thinking about what could go wrong ahead of time to solve it before it happens. This saves me time and money. I learned to be patient, not wait on others, and to create my OWN lane, because that’s when doors would open for me. I want the world to know that I am here to build a legacy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting the area, I’d definitely take them to the beach, some cool rooftop spots, and the best food places in town. I’m a foodie, so we’d eat at least 3-4 times a day! Which means, we’d definitely have to get a workout in, so I’d take them on a hike with the best views.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
God has definitely been my mentor on this wonderful journey of filmmaking. When I would question the next steps or worry about the outcomes, He’d always put that drive in me to not dwell on those things but to just finish the job. I’d also like to shout out Chris Rouse for always being down to create art and film my projects. He understands the vision and works relentlessly to get it all done. I have a wonderful support system all around and I wouldn’t be able to get anything done without their love, time, and dedication.
