We had the good fortune of connecting with Amelia Noyes and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amelia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
In the very beginning, my business was a side hustle. I wasn’t sure if people would respond to my work so I started by putting my artwork on Instagram to see if people liked it. I started to see a positive response so I began to focus on creating a small business. In 2018 after a difficult personal experience, I decided to go all in on my artwork as a full time job. The risk was scary but the results made it worth it.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My brand was born from sharing what I love and support. I create art that makes me happy and for the things that I believe in. I hope that can be felt and seen through my work.
The core component of my brand that sets me apart from others is myself. Being authentic has given me the ability to grow my digital platform on Instagram from a couple of thousand followers to 16+ thousand followers. Each piece of artwork that I create is a facet of my personality, from the bright colors to the person that is illustrated. There is an intention behind each piece.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
These recommendations are based on some really great trips that I have had in California.
If the time of the year is right, head up to Hearst Castle. When driving there, keep your eyes peeled for the Hearst Castle Zebras. Once you get to the castle itself, take a tour, and after that, head to the Elephant Seal Rookery.
Head back down the coast you can make two stops in Santa Barbara and Malibu.
For a great breakfast head to Boathouse at Hendry’s Beach. They have an amazing view. Bonus: the restaurant is located on a dog beach.
For lunch, I would head to Rudy’s Mexican Restaurant. Everything on the menu is fantastic. After lunch, you can go shopping in downtown Santa Barbara.
Grab lunch or an early dinner at Malibu Farm. The vibes at this restaurant are really nice. Afterwards, you can head to any local beach and sunbathe for the afternoon.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My parents deserve a shoutout for giving me the support to jump into my art business full time.
Thank you to my BF for your support.
Last but not least a shoutout needs to go out to my two good friends Krystina and Katie. You have always been by my side and I am grateful for you guys.
