We had the good fortune of connecting with Amelia Rose and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amelia, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I wanted to build upon my own interests and goals. I found, probably like most people, I do my best and most inspired work when it is as close to my personal “flow” as possible. Starting my own business just seemed to be the next natural step to improving my personal satisfaction with my career.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I came into the personal training industry in an unusual way – most trainers I have worked with are former professional or at least college – level athletes. My background was centered more in psychology and mental health. Fitness and athletics have always been a way to maintain my mental health and build community in my life but my passion was always around people. How they think, how they move, what motivates one person but makes another person withdraw. I left the corporate world of Sony to become a yoga teacher and found quickly my passion was working one-on-one with people. I already had a BA in psychology do the transition into working with clients on physical health was easy since so much is tied to mental and emotional awareness and motivation. I worked very hard in the “trenches” of the commercial gym industry, early morning and late night clients, weekends – I made myself available anytime. I learned that nothing combats consistency and curiosity. Those two characteristics are essential when working with people and also stepping into entrepreneurship. Show up and ask questions. Amrose Fitness is an inclusive brand that includes both your mental, emotional and physical fitness. My goal for my clients is to reach their goals & to be able to enjoy being who they are authentically. And to be able to survive a zombie apocalypse 🙂

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Early on in my training career I had two great mentors that guided and inspired my journey of understanding the business, the service and the science necessary for high quality personal training. Rachel Reddish and Joshua Feldman taught me how to create a career out of a passion. Over the years I have worked with many incredible trainers both in the New York City & Los Angeles area, probably the best of the best. I credit my broad range of science based training systems as well as my financial success to the community of fitness professionals that are dedicated to supporting our industry and each other. Out of respect for my clients, I won’t name names, but several clients who have believed in my skill, expertise and vision have pushed me to trust myself as a trainer and coach. AND of course having the love and support of close friends and family – the people who celebrate the wins every step of the way and listen with a kind ear about the failures.
