We had the good fortune of connecting with Amy Suddleson and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Amy, what makes you happy? Why?
I would have to say that I am at my happiest when I’m traveling with my family. We love exploring new places, taking photographs, trying new foods, and learning about new cultures. Even if it’s as simple as a road trip, we have fun stopping at interesting places and being adventurous. We look forward to taking our daughters to Europe one day, when the pandemic is behind us. We love delicious meals and are eager to dine and explore Italy as a family! We also have always supported the arts and miss our season tickets to the Pantages, here in Los Angeles. My daughters and I love musical theater and we can’t wait to resume those fun family activities again soon! We hope to get back to New York for delicious pizza and Broadway shows soon too! Being an adventurous family, exposing ourselves to different cultures and the arts brings me great joy and happiness!
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a Los Angeles Professional Organizer, Lifestyle Design Expert, and Stylist with more than 20 years of experience helping clients throughout California. I provide a supportive, calm, and positive approach to professional organizing, giving clients tools to transform the chaos of clutter into creatively reimagined spaces. My personality and passion for order are matched by my experience in the organizing and event planning space. For many years, I organized and designed large-scale, high-profile events for Universal Studios, including movie premieres and million-dollar corporate events. I went on to serve as Director of Alumni Events for the prestigious Brentwood School. I received a Visual Communication Design degree from The University of California, at Davis, and am an active member of the National Association of Productivity & Organizing Professionals. I live in West Los Angeles with my husband, two daughters, and mini Schnoodle, Bruin.
As a child, I craved organization because life often felt out of control. Whether I was sorting Barbie clothing by type or storing markers in rainbow order, I had a love for visual clarity and order. Ultimately, at a young age, I realized how the space we are in and our external surroundings have a direct impact on how we feel internally. Having your space in order leads to feeling energetically lighter, calmer, and more centered.
Initially when I first started my business, I would teach clients how to create functional systems paired with a beautiful and stylish aesthetic. My methods were simple and could easily be learned. So many clients would call me months, often years, after our work together in excitement telling me that they were able to tackle a new space in their home on their own. The process I had so easily taught them stuck, and it kept them motivated and inspired to do it themself. As the number of clients I had greatly increased, I hired assistants and helpers. It wasn’t until my client load was too large to manage on my own that I scaled my business and created a true organizing firm. The increase was gradual and came organically.
With support from my best friend, Erin, and my fabulous assistant, Kelley Mack, we did a dynamic rebrand and I created The Nimble Nest, Inc. We are a Los Angeles-based boutique organizing + lifestyle brand rooted in sustainable systems and lasting design solutions. As professional organizers and design experts, our team transforms spaces with a uniquely customized, one-on-one approach. The Nimble Nest offers multi-level, full-service professional organizing, by creatively reimagining each space into a nimble nest. Our organizing process guides clients in helping them gain confidence, experience life through a different lens, and become inspired to effortlessly maintain their spaces. We like to say that we don’t tidy… we transform! When you work with us, you’ll experience our judgment-free, kind approach, with reimagined systems that help you feel calm and empowered in your space. The Nimble Nest cleverly designs functional spaces. We believe you should invest in your home, your family + your wellness!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Living here in LA, we have the luxury of hitting the city life, while also enjoying the beautiful beach and hiking trails. I love being outside and would share a long beach walk or hike in Temescal Canyon if I had a friend visiting. We of course would hit the beach, down at Will Rodgers, and make our way up Montana for a fun and leisurely shopping experience. And of course, we wouldn’t miss the iconic Farmers Market, Melrose Avenue and the buzz of Hollywood. But I always love coming back to my neighborhood to dine at one of our local favorites: Divino, Baltaire or Pizzana in the heart of Brentwood.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I dedicate this shout-out to my lifelong childhood best friend, Erin McClure. Erin is a successful recruiter in San Francisco and owns Emerald, a recruiting and consulting firm. She conducts interviews, counsels candidates on a variety of matters, and handles employment negotiations. She has been a leader in placing candidates with backgrounds in all areas with company and law firm clients. Erin is my cheerleader. When I doubt myself or question how to do something, her knowledge is solid, and her resources are endless. She is selfless and has dedicated hours to guiding me to the right people and resources to grow my business. Her creativity and focused direction help me feel supported and encouraged.
