We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Gabriela Martinez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana Gabriela, let’s start by talking about what inspires you?
ART!

Everything inspires me.

Any small conversation or interaction. It could be a billboard or a sign at a bus stop.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Like in every origin story –

There is a beginning, middle, and an end.

What I am most proud of is being able to make an impact in any way I am able to – at any scale.

I would be NOTHING and NO one without my mother. She was an entreprenuer, and she taught me how to start from scratch.

It has not been easy, but the best way to overcome these challenges is to be a life-long learner. I’d like to think that I am a student of the universe and “Life” is my course of study.

The most impactful lesson thus far has been: “Wear your heart on your sleeve, but make sure it is thick!”

Canary Media was founded on the idea and basis that WE ALL have a voice. We all have a story to share. I wanted a platform to create a safe space for that. A place where, as KEMBE X says, “The demons come to die.”

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?

I’d say brunch at some of my fave spots:

Hike!
LA is one of the most beautiful and scenic places! We have some of the most beautiful hikes all over the state

~ Huntington Library
~ Amoeba Records – or any record store

* I also always like to ask my friends visiting if they have something on their bucket list too!
