We had the good fortune of connecting with Ana Pleasant and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ana, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business is essentially that I myself experience domestic violence and seeking for services was nearly close to impossible. The hardest part when it comes to domestic violence is the courage to leave our abuser. Many struggle with this because the lack of resources and or support. I made it my mission to create a program where these services can be made available for everyone who needs it. A program that creates hope for every women and children who are seeking refugee and resources to remove themselves from abuse completely.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Hello My name is Ana Pleasant,  founder of Pleasant Beginnings Foundation,  I was born and raised in Los Angeles California. As a young woman I have overcome many difficulties in my life. I was a victim of domestic violence which at times  made me question my worth . It also caused me to have suicidal thoughts. After a personal tragedy, I said enough is enough and I found the strength and courage to leave my abuser.

Struggling to find resources, running into dead ends and being wait listed for services , it occurred to me I wasn’t the only woman  experiencing this. So it inspired me to create this program.

At Pleasant Beginnings Foundation our mission is to teach our members that What they’ve been through will not determine who they will become.

We believe Teaching them valuable life skills will give them strength and encourage them to overcome past trauma and allow for healing.

Pleasant Beginnings Foundation is a minority-owned woman business, designed for women and children who suffer from domestic violence, mental health, homelessness, substance abuse and suicidal ideation , servicing all of Los Angeles county.

We envision a world where every person can find hope. A world where all youth have the resources and support needed to thrive.

We pride ourselves on giving the highest level of support and facilitation to our members. We do so with endless passion and a loving spirit to give them the best in every way. We offer excellence and exceed expectations in everything we do.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I am a multicultural gal who loves Spanish Banda. I love listening to live Banda and mariscos. I would definitely recommend mariscos Choix in Downey, restaurant 701 In Montebello and you can never go wrong with Manhattan beach pier. San Pedro another place I love to go to although it can get a bit to crowded on the weekends.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Angelica Pleasant (my mothers) is my role model. A woman, a mother and a boss. My mom is someone I can talk to when I doubted myself , and always encouraged me to finish school, and follow my dreams. I learned how to be An independent, go getter from her. She thought me that whatever I put my mind on I can accomplish. Which is why I decided to go beyond my nursing credentials and open my own business so that I can become a boss just like her and also encouraged my employees to become the best they can be. Along with providing services that serves a good the county I grew up in and love !
