We had the good fortune of connecting with André Jay and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi André, why did you pursue a creative career?
Hmmm It’s hard to think of one specific reason why I choose to pursue an artistic career. One reason that comes to mind is the power of music and its role in one of our 5 senses…hearing. There are endless amount of songs that take me back to a specific time in my life. That’s the beauty of it! I can listen to a song from 1 to 5 years ago and it will teleport my mind to a vivid memory. That’s powerful. That inspired me and was one of the reasons why I decided to pursue music. I want to create moments, memories, timestamps in someones life and I would like to do that with my music. I want my music to take someone to a specific time in their life just as artists I listen to have done for me.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Getting to where I am has not been easy and getting to where I want to be won’t be either. I’ve reached an age where I am beginning to feel like my window for making it is getting smaller. That is a challenge yet an inspiration for me, I have given myself until the age of 30 to get signed to a label I believe in. I’ve learned on my journey that making it in this industry isn’t easy whatsoever. But I have also learned that it is very possible from the successes I have had up until now. I want people who listen to my music to feel like they know me for who I am, and not someone I’m not. That’s my brand and music, I can be dark, sexual, upbeat, sad and romantic.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
YES! This is one of my other talents, recommending places to visit in the city of Los Angles. This is what a good Saturday in LA consists of, A full day on the coast. Begin your day by getting brunch at Sunny Spot in Venice, then head over to Abbott Kinney, and walk down the whole street. Afterwards rent out electric scooters and ride on over to the Venice Canals, once there take in the beauty. Once you have soaked in the beatuy of the canals, head over to The Whaler for drinks with a view of the beach and ocean. After drink and food hit the beach and catch the sunset, you will be tired by the time the sun sets. If you still have energy to spare, finish off the night by heading over to The Victorian for some dancing and live music. Your Welcome!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I give a shout out to my engineer Austin Martin aka AyeG who has been the sauce to my mix. His talents have helped me in so many ways, I have learned a lot from this dude as, Definitely a friend and talent worth having in your circle.
