Meet Andreas Beckett | Actor, Singer,

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andreas Beckett and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andreas, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was rather instinctual at the beginning. I studied Mechanical engineering and earned a Masters, but knew early on that I had no interest in working in this field. Fell into dancing, musicals and eventually acting, And even then it took me a while to realize that it is a business. When I moved to Los Angeles I understood quickly why it was called show business.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
About my art:
I’m an actor and as most actors I’m a lot more than that. As a child I was looking to do things for attention as early as I can remember. I grew up in the country side and there was not much appreciation for artistic endevor. So I did sports. Played hockey for 10 years. Was 6 times junior National champion and athlete of the year in my home town. Didn’t know what to do after high school and got masters in Mechanical Engineering. At the same time I became world champion in swing dance acrobatic. Got offered a job to perform West Side Story with Cleveland Opera in the US and I didn’t look back. I love acting, I love opera. I love music. I love dance, I love performing.
Was it easy?
No, it was never easy. But at times I’m in a flow and it feels easy.
How did I overcome challenges?
By keep on keeping on. Don’t give up. Keep standing up. There is no recipe.
What are the lessons learned on the way?
Well, one is to trust more. Trust my instincts. To listen is more important than to know. I can’t do it alone. Be a contribution to others. Everything that goes out comes back at some point. Be a collaborator. The ones who are good, compete. The great ones collaborate. I have to start, I have to take the first step, then God or the universe or whatever it is you believe in will step in to help and support you in your vision. Never give up dreaming. Always, keep growing, expanding, learning. When I’m in the process of learning I’m always happy. There is no stand still. Either expand or contract. Keep my heart open and forgive. Don’t hold grudges. I only hurt myself if I do.
Whats my brand?
The warrior poet. Redemption. Faith.
What to I want the world to know about me?
I’m coming! I’m standing up again and I’m coming!
What I’m excited about:
I wrote a screenplay called “Beautiful Hell”. A relationship drama in the vein Kramer vs. Kramer and Marriage Story. I’m in the process of getting it made.
What sets me apart:
My story. My pain, My joy. There is no-one with my experience.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Santa Barbara Mission, Zuma Beach, Big Bear, Disney Hall, Opera House, Downtown La Central Market, Palm Springs tram up the mountain, LA Kings Game, Hike up mountain behind Glendale Library, El. Capitan Movie Theater, Hike to Hollywood sign,

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
This is not easy to pin down, but I’ll give it a try: Books. I was an avid reader early on. Karl May, Novels taught me to dream. Rainer Maria Rilke’s book “letters to a young poet” gave me clarity about what to do with my life and to trust my path. I lived in a friends library in New York City, while I was in acting school. There were thousands of books and my bed. We had reading club at night. It was an education. I have read everything Friedrich Nietzsche wrote. Plato’s republic, the symposium, I read most of the classic literature. Sport. Music. Dance. My coaches and teachers are too many to name all of them. Without them I wouldn’t be here. Richard Caceres for bringing me to the US. I had teachers who got me exited to start the journey in Elaine Stritch for acting then I had teachers who taught me the craft at the Esper Studio in NY, Loyd Williamson, then I had teachers like Sally Johnson who taught me to trust my instincts and Ivana Chubbuck and Giles Forman, who taught me to go deeper. I thank my parents for raising me with principles. My uncle Jack, and my grandparents on whose farm I spent half of my childhood. Creating a one person play with the legendary Ken & Mitzi Welch was an extraordinary experience. When I first came to the US I have received scholarships for almost everything I wanted to do. I am immensely grateful of all the support and the faith people have put in me, even when I didn’t appreciate it at the time. I thank my father, who passed away recently, for passing his talents on to me. I dedicate my journey to all the people who have been a step on the ladder to myself. Wouldn’t be where I am now, without any of you.
