Meet Andrew Cramp | Marketing & Design

We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Cramp and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Andrew, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
My all-time favorite book is The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, simply because of its powerful underlying message. Whenever I feel uninspired or just lost, I turn to this story. Very few books have moved me in a way that truly sparks a desire to keep pursuing what moves and speaks to me the most throughout life’s journey. I highly recommend it to anyone who is in need of inspiration to keep going after your dreams.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
To start, I’m pretty focused on developing my self-brand, pursuing my masters in Business & Technology, as well as helping others along the way where I can. I mainly work within the field of Marketing, Design, and Communication, and I’ve got to work on some cool projects along the way. Aside from that, I enjoy sharing my experiences through Instagram, which has been an incredible tool that has connected me to some amazing people and opportunities over the years. I can honestly say I never thought that would ever happen.
My current role is with the world-famous Magic Castle as the Marketing and Comm Director. It’s a unique, private members-only magic club located in Hollywood. There’s never a dual moment at the Castle and each visit is different from the last. Over the past 4 years, my efforts have been applied to the private club industry and it’s been quite the experience! I’m very humbled to be a part this magical family and Hollywood staple as an LA-transplant.
My background started out in Youngstown, Ohio where I studied graphic design and worked for an east-coast restaurant chain for a few years. I then moved to Orlando, FL, and this move quickly became a place I called home. I was fortunate to meet many supportive and inspiring people during my 3-year stay. Here, I explored my passions for personal training and was introduced to the start-up/entrepreneurial aspect side of business. I indulged in learning more about each of these areas and started an apparel line with some friends. In the summer of 2017, I relocated to Orange County, California. I quickly learned it was a long dogfight trying to prove myself in a highly talented and competitive job market. Through my consistent efforts, I was lucky enough to catch the eye of a hiring General Manager in 2019, who has been an amazing mentor to me.
I guess what I’m trying to say through my long-winded journey is, you will never truly know what your exact course through life is. Your current perception can be vastly different from what life has planned for you and the moments it wants you to experience. Regardless of what’s planned or not, your efforts matter the most. Continue to be that better person, constantly challenge yourself, and explore what inspires and interests you the most. You just might surprise yourself with where you end up.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
This is a tough one for me because there are so many great things to see and places to visit. I would start out with a scenic hike like Runyon, Topanga Outlook, or the Palisades – simply because living out here provides the most breathtaking views of the coast, valley, and downtown (on a clear day) and I want my friends to experience it too. Considering where I work, I’d leverage that and treat them to a very memorable experience and then stop for another great Hollywood (nighttime) view, like Yamashiro for a cocktail. I’d also consider doing a little PCH drive from Santa Monica to the Malibu Pier for lunch, or perhaps a sunset trip for dinner on the beach. Some unique fun would be a visit to Cliftons or Harvelle’s to mix it up a little. For the friends that have visited, I would say that I’ve shown them some pretty cool and fun places over the years.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Where to start? I don’t think I would be where I am today without the countless mentors and peers who saw more in me than I saw in myself. Without their consistent nudges and encouragement, I don’t think I would have ever been able to see myself living in Los Angeles. My family will always be my biggest shout out, but I can certainly give some well deserved credit to my previous colleagues in Orlando, Lauren & Mark. They implored me to learn and indulge more in to the business landscape of the start-up we worked at. Without that, I don’t think I’d have the entrepreneurial fascination and drive I do today. Another would be my friend, Art Ortiz, owner and trainer of The OC Lab Gym & Fitness Center in Anaheim. Art has been a rock for me since moving out here. He’s been reliable, understanding, and a true friend – even when I was at my lowest and I owe a lot to him for that. Lastly, the most influential to me would be my current boss and mentor, Hervé Lévy. He has continued to challenge me, guide me, and provide countless opportunities to prove my knowledge and sharpen my skill set for the betterment of my career. Getting my footing in Los Angeles would’ve been difficult without his help.
