We had the good fortune of connecting with Andrew Diaz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Andrew, we’d love to hear about a book that’s had an impact on you.
The book that changed my life was “Rich Dad Poor Dad” by Robert Kiyosaki. It’s the only book I’ve reread every single year since my twenties. Between the ages of 20 and 25, I was reading a book a day. Now, in my thirties, it’s very rare that I’ll read the same book. I try to extrapolate what I need from each book to add value, but very rarely do I revisit the same book. “Rich Dad Poor Dad” is the exception. Since the age of 19, it’s the only book I read every single year, at least once. That book changed my life.

When I first encountered it, I had just lost my job, I was poor, and I had less than $100 to my name. In fact, I was in the negative due to overdraft fees. I was trying to emulate a rich dad while being a poor dad myself. The title of the book resonated deeply with me. It said, “the rich don’t work for money, they have money work for them.” I had never heard that concept before. Once I started to internalize it, my perspective on wealth and success shifted forever.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My wife encouraged me to start my own business. She believed that with my knowledge and teachings, I could help many people and potentially change lives. I decided to start small with one student. After seeing success with one-on-one teaching, I decided to go online in 2017 with the mission of helping as many people as possible. I went from having 1 student to 13,500 students across the globe. It wasn’t easy and took about 5 years before it became profitable. It took a bit of trial and error in order to find tune the process. I look at my challenges and aim to crush them, I don’t accept failure and I don’t have pity parties.

The key to my success, and the success of my brand, is that I’ve never deviated from my process. Initially, I set goals, but I soon realized that goals are short-term. Once you achieve a goal, you’re left wondering, “What’s next?” This can lead to a sense of unfulfillment. Even now, despite having made good money, I’m always aiming for self-improvement, striving to be 1% better every day. When you continually strive to improve yourself, your business, your relationships, and other aspects of life, you start to fall in love with the process. If I can do it, anyone else can do it

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
Aside from my beautiful wife and the support of my family, I’d like to thank St. Boneventure High School for teaching me what it means to win, not just in sports but in life. As well as the YAC Foundation – “Young Athletes for Christ”, Started by Coach John Diaz who brought sports training to local neighborhoods and help kids use sports as a vessel to get into college and help them with the skillsets to be successful in college.
