Meet Ang & Seb | Owners of The Prelim

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ang & Seb and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ang & Seb, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
When it comes to work life balance, it’s just that – figuring out how to balance the things that are important to you. For us, our work has become an important part of our lives. Most of the time, it can feel like both intertwine perfectly so it becomes challenging to separate the two. But one thing we remind ourselves is to not force a line between them. Sometimes, work spills over into our life. Sometimes life spills over into our work. We honor the energy we have going, how we’re feeling collectively, and where we are in the process.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The Prelim is an ethically-driven collection of sustainable pieces, for the people and the planet. We believe that what sets us apart from others is our honest, human nature. We do our best to be intentional with what we do, how we make others feel, and what we want to be remembered as. We’re proud that we practice what we preach because in a space that can be misleading, we’re not. Business-wise, we’re incredibly grateful to have gotten where we are now with the surrounding support of our family, friends, and other business acquaintances. This journey has not been easy, but with every problem, we’ve found an opportunity to grow. Sebastian and I have come to realize that mistakes will be made and failure is a huge part of the process. We want the world to know that The Prelim is more than just a brand. We want to be able to stand for, what we stand on.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
For a week long trip:
FOOD – Monty’s Good Burger, Coffee Holic, Poppy & Rose, Urth Cafe, Señor Big Ed, Clearwater Bagels, The Attic, The Donut Hole, etc.
VISIT – Swans in Echo Park, The Broad, Disneyland, Downtown Long Beach, Descanso Gardens.
There are tons of choices all around Los Angeles, even further out. Typically, everything starts with a search on Yelp!
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Behind any success story, there’s a collective crowd of family, friends, mentors, failures, wins, passion, frustration, and love. We would certainly not be where we are without that. It’s difficult for us to narrow down who we’d like to dedicate our shoutout to but these are the people who have shaped our business, inspired our hearts, and watered the seeds we needed to grow: both of our parents, our close-knit group of friends, Gary Vaynerchuck, Jen Sincero, and all of those who support our wild journey.
