We had the good fortune of connecting with Angela Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angela, how did you come up with the idea for your business?
I was inspired by Pinterest. I was making earrings as a hobby, for about two years at the time. My designs were drastically different, I was making big earrings, but they were underwhelming. However, I had all these wild ideas in my head of designs I wanted to create but I knew it would be a risky move. So I went to Pinterest, and I searched “the world’s biggest earrings” Just to see what i would find. I saw images of women walking the runway, on magazine covers, even celebrities in concert in huge piece. I realized that this was my niche. That this was a business that I needed to create, I wanted my pieces to shock the viewers. I wanted to create earrings that were made for the front cover of magazines. Then “The bold fashion” was born. The structure of my collections would be one runway piece per collection, while the others would be ready to wear bold statement earrings. My first runway piece was “Futuristic” earrings. Beautiful multicolored earrings with a series of half circle arch shapes layered with brass charms on the ends of each tier. I was so proud because that piece screamed “The bold fashion”, and i felt proud the be the designer of such an innovative and bold product, and brand.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My art is bold and dramatic on purpose. I believe that you can only make change by being seen. I make wearable art that is bold on purpose. My pieces are made to speak loudly through pictures and videos. I consider my earrings wearable art, as fashion trends are not considered when creating new pieces, my imagination and creativity guide my creations. I am so proud of my branding so far. I am proud when I look at my designs, and the originality, drama and artistic skill that drips from my pieces. I am proud of the fact that I do not copy other artist, all of my pieces are unique to my brand. There were countless challenges on the way, and I’m sure there will be many in front of me, but I know what god has in store for me, He encourages me and leads me to the right places at the right time. I always feel protected with him on this journey with me, and he has been the reason I stuck to this. One of my biggest lessons i learned was ‘stop rushing’, my goals don’t have a timer. I can meet them when it’s time for me to arrive at that goal. Rushing causes frustration because we don’t know what the future holds, it’s been better for me to take my time and enjoy the ride.

I want people to know that my brand is unique, very much like me. I don’t like to follow trends; I aspire to inspire fashion trends. I know there are many earring designers out there, but ‘the bold fashion’ understands the value of shock. My pieces will get bolder as I continue to create.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Well, the city i live in is boring however, just a couple miles away is a place called Napa that i love to visit. So, our first stop would be The Housley winery, owned by Tamera Mowry. I love the vibe, the people and i love the wines. Then we would go to the Andaz napa restaurant to have some amazing Food and drinks. Then we would go to bookstore, Napa book mine where i love to read for hours on end. African American romantic fiction is my favorite genre, and i could read one chapter book in two hours. Now, I can’t stay out too late because i have seven kids and a husband waiting for me at home but let’s just say the rest of the trip would look a little something like that but with various hotel lounge restaurants and books stores sprinkled in.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely have a lot of people; I care about and trust to thank for journey of success. My mother has been one of my biggest supporters. She shares my posts at least ten times, every time I post a new product, I really love her for that. My husband, who has been so supportive and motivating, even in the tough moments I have had behind the scenes, where I felt I had no one to talk to, he was there to be a shoulder to cry on. I appreciate the fact that he is down for anything, when it comes to my business. If I said let’s ride to Los Angeles right now, he would be the first one in the car, with my inventory and packing up the kids, and I love him so much for that. I have my dad who was the first creative influence i had in my life. Seeing him play the piano, the bass and organs growing up sparked something in my, and that resulted in the creative future i am enjoying today. My big sister, Alicia who constantly hypes me up, and has given me great business advice over the years. I love my circle of support, its small but its secure and reliable with plenty of love and mutual admiration
