Meet Angelica Reyes Escribano | Cinematographer & Colorist

We had the good fortune of connecting with ANGELICA REYES ESCRIBANO and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi ANGELICA, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Taking risk is what moves us forward, but we need to understand that we are accountable of every decision we make. As a Cinematographer we take risks to make the best product we can; but i need to be responsable with the people that work with me, they need to feel and be safe.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I work mostly as a Cinematographer and Colorist for the film industry. Neither of these works at easy, but this is the power that keeps me running. Is not easy to follow your passion or your dreams, it takes all your energy and determination to make it happen. My last project was Inside the Notebook a Drama-fantasy short that got some awards around, including an Honorable Mention as Best Cinematography at Florence Film Awards. Inside the Notebook and Pulse (available on YouTube) are 2 of the projects that I carry on my heart. They were hard and challenging. They made me learn so much as a Cinematographer. inside the notebook was a huge task. From not budget to car accidents everything happened to us. Fortunately, I had a team that supported me and the production with the same passion and dedication as us. We made it be in students and now we’re better. It always will be challenging and some times we feel will not be able to complete a task, but something I learned is; it doesn’t matter the challenge if you have a good team. I don’t know what door will be opening for us in the future, but I know it will make us better. Now we know how to deliver good results in a fast turnaround. Know a series is cooking let’s hope that will impress and entertain more people.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Most of my friends are from Puerto Rico so I’ll take them to Korea town for a KBBQ and the take them to 85c for some buns and then may be a good walk in big bear or something similar.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Luisa Acevedo, Luz Guadarrama, Mariel Oquendo, and Alejandra Hou. These ladies have been with me in my dark days and every time had some words that pick me up and push me forward.
