We had the good fortune of connecting with Angelita Bushey and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Angelita, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?
A single act of kindness throws out roots in all directions, and the roots spring up and make new trees. Amelia Earhart This quote has always resonated with me, we rise by lifting others through kindness. Always look for the good in others.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
What sets me apart is from an early age I learned to hustle and grind. You have to constantly hustle and grind to make it, especially in a city like LA. I’m very proud of my accomplishments up until now. I’m very fortunate and grateful for all the opportunities I have had. I’m extremely excited for the future and the projects I will be working on. Success comes with certain challenges, especially in this industry where there is no one way to make it. You have to have a thick skin. This industry comes with a lot of rejection. You have to roll with the punches, cause believe me they will keep coming. When I first started I was emailing people just trying to get a reply. I challenged myself to push harder and to not take no for an answer. It takes drive, tenacity, and a lot of faith knowing that someone will give you a chance. I’ve learned that you just have to keep going. You have to keeping pushing and pushing to make your voice heard. This industry is cut throat and being mentally prepared for the challenges is half the battle. Another lesson is be cautious. There are tons of fake people and scams out there. Trust your instincts and do your research! Any legit person or project you’ll be able to verify it. This industry is also filled with sleazy people. Again, trust your instincts. If someone or something does feel right, its probably not. Don’t be afraid to say no. I want my brand of story to be enlightening. I want to show that even in a world filled with negativity there is positivity. I want to show that you can really be tested mentally, physically, emotionally and still make it. You can achieve success.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
First stop would be the Getty Villa and enjoy the Roman Villa Garden & Exhibitions. From there we would cruise up PCH and have a bite at Duke’s Malibu and watch the sunset. Next day we would have brunch at the Malibu Farm Restaurant on the pier then go on a Malibu Wine Hike.
Next on the agenda would be DTLA and visiting The Last Bookstore on S. Spring St. after that we would go to the Art Walk
then have a drink at the Little Easy 5th & Spring St. top it off walk to the Cecil Hotel 640 S. Main and of course discuss it’s haunted history that so many are infatuated with.
The Rooftop At The Wayfarer Downtown La hotel would be another place we would visit and have dinner under the stars. Following a trip to LACMA & Urban Lights.
Griffith Observatory is on the agenda along with a hike to the Hollywood Sign then dinner at Trattoria Farfalla Los Feliz.
We would definitely go to Historical Olvera Street and have lunch at El Paseo Inn and visit the many shops.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Wow! So many to mention with so many who have supported me throughout my journey. I want to shout out GOD first and foremost because without my faith my blessings would have not been put upon my path. Shoutout to my kids and family, Shelly, Jami that have had a huge impact and inspire me to do my very best.
I would also like to shoutout Betty Ouyang for believing in me and giving me my first starring role in Fathers Day 2017. Thank you to Charles Clemmons who took a chance on me. Thank you to Sage Christian Drake for mentoring me and blessing me with my first producing job.
