We had the good fortune of connecting with Angie Myung and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Angie, how has your work-life balance changed over time?
Especially this past year with the pandemic, I realized the importance of self-care. I got to read so many books, and doing things that I enjoy, like cooking and traveling. Life is fragile and short so make the most of it.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Our “accidental business” started in 2003 with a small art show with our friends. Seeing that our talented friends’ weren’t selling any artworks in the traditional gallery setting, we thought about applying their artworks onto something that’s ubiquitous that you take with you everywhere, wallets. So we printed their works and made them into simple vinyl wallets and then we ventured into other product categories. Our motto from day one was “Art Every Day” We wanted to make things that were accessible, functional, and that bring joy to your lives. We opened our first brick and mortar in 2012 and have brought our designs in-house for the most part. You can find all of our own products in- store at our shop in DTLA and poketo.com as well as at select retailers around the world.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would take a hike in our neighborhood, Debbs Park we will then go out to KBBQ at Parks in K-Town, or Chengdu Taste in Monterey Park for some super spicy Szechuan food and get sweet something at one of the many Chinese desserts in SGV.

We will take a drive to Malibu and go to Malibu Seafood for some fish and chips and just hang out on the beach.

Joshua Tree for a day trip and if time allows going up to Sea Ranch to our vacay home and cook and hang out for at least a few days.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
